>>>>Could this be camouflaged to appear as an ordinary (& safe) computer "thingy" & actually be a component that could be used to assemble something in an airplane restroom? I remember some years back, ME guys coming over from Canada with boxes of Casio watches and other items...all items appeared harmless until someone said that if you took them and added a couple of other items, you'd have a nice bomb.

I have no idea if this was a camouflaged item on this particular plane/incident. But I wanted to add a memory refresher.

Pan American 747 had a bomb hidden implemented in a boom box/radio.

Hmmmmm.....I have never seen one of these computer things and I wonder if security was very familiar with it (was it on list of things to check?). Maybe this just fell off of something but maybe it was put there so that security people would become more familiar with them and later might see one (that has been tampered with to be something other than it is) and just let it pass though security - thinking its just a computer thing. The original article didn't seem to match the item to a particular passenger and it would seem this would be easy to do...maybe they did later and I just didn't see an updated article.

No. I use these things daily. They change numbers randomly. There is no electrical output to wire into a detonation device, nor any way to predict what number will come up every 60 seconds.

This was an overreaction, but I'd rather have that than dead people.
