The Clancy Trial: When “Twelve Angry Men” Becomes One Angry Man
Jonathan Turley ^ | 7 Sep 2026 | Jonathan Turley

“I hope that guy can sleep well at night.”

Those words from Kevin Reddington on the steps of the Plymouth, Massachusetts Courthouse were part of a diatribe against the “guy” who was reportedly the sole holdout in the Lindsay Clancy trial. The scene was a fitting end to a visceral trial, but it added a vindictive element that should prompt Judge William Sullivan to call out the seasoned defense attorney.

After declaring that the 11-1 mistrial was “no time to gloat,” Reddington bragged repeatedly about “crushing” District Attorney Tim Cruz, whom he also attacked. He insisted that, in the trial, no one said a single negative thing about his client as a mother — ignoring that little matter of the three young children whom she had strangled to death, one by one.

But it was his attack on the holdout juror that was a breathtaking abandonment of restraint and decency. Reddington knows it is very likely that the name of this juror (he has already been identified as one of only three males on the jury) will eventually be uncovered by Internet sleuths. He effectively put a target on the back of a juror who committed the unpardonable sin of not being convinced by his arguments.

The fact that this is one of the three male jurors only ramped up the rage. This case prompted a striking gender divide between men and women, with many women expressing sympathy for Clancy and anger at the system for failing her.

For Reddington and many viewers, the hung jury was less “Twelve Angry Men” and more like “One Angry Man.” Indeed, in addition to attacking the juror, women outside of the courthouse heckled Cruz as he tried to speak to the press, shouting that he “only cares about the three children....

I wouldn’t mind seeing Kevin Reddington getting disbarred over his unprofessional behavior at the end of this trial.

Hey Kevin - You failed. If there is an angry man - he’s it.

The crotchety old buzzard should be ordered to apologize to the juror and prosecutor or face a contempt sentence...at the least.

He has to be one of the slimmest and most repulsive lawyers, on the inside and outside, I’ve ever seen.

The CBS Sunday Morning show picked up where the defense attorney left off, telling us that women with ‘Post-Partum Psychosis’ deserve our sympathy and understanding of their suffering.

Fifteen minutes of that violin music for the mother and NOT ONE mention of children killed and tortured.

“CBS Cares.”

I wouldn't mind if Kevin were found washed up on the beach at Provincetown, cold and still.

Get that one man on FR and give him my moniker. If he contacts me through the PM, he has a place to stay for a while where NO ONE will bother him. I am totally serious.

[[with many women expressing sympathy for Clancy and anger at the system for failing her]]

Womder if they’d feel the same if she had kilt puppy dogs or kitty kats? Would they ‘blame the system’ for ‘failing her’ then?

Put her on a very high floor with an open balcony and a wheel chair ramp. Let her try again since she screwed up the first time.

Are you kidding? It’s Massachusetts. We’ll be lucky to ever see the likes of that man again, in the next trial.

Dark day for jury trials.

This was jury tampering -- not THIS jury, but EVERY jury going forward.

The whole notion of them essentially leaking that there was one holdout juror, that obviously he was wanting to convict, is going to mess with the head of every juror in every trial going forward.

Unless this empty-robe pinheaded judge in this trial makes some statement and sanctions Reddington.

If the judge doesn't, then every attorney will have the option of tuning up a juror who just doesn't buy the party line.

The jury system predates the US Republic by many centuries. We should not mess with it.

It is the last thing we have before SHTF. We need to actively preserve this attempt to corrupt the process by that corrupt old man, and the dimwitted judge.

When I heard this defense attorney state “I won this case”, his narcissism became very clear. How dare he attack a juror who voted his opinion and his conscience.
