New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani used America's 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence to lay into the ideals for which this country fought for its independence, saying "what is the value of life and liberty to a person who is unable or unwilling to support himself through his own efforts? For 250 years this country has lived under a system that allows the energetic and the enterprising to take more than their fair share of the wealth that is produced. In the past month we have seen Elon Musk become the world's first trillionaire. It's time we give democratic socialism the opportunity to right this wrong."
Mamdani called for "a new system that would allow the people to elect a government that has the power to allocate the nation's wealth based on the simple idea that each person must contribute as much as they are able to produce and be allocated as much as they need to live. This idea was conceived by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in their 1848 book The Communist Manifesto. While Marx and Engels called for a dictatorship of the proletariat to seize power and direct this process, modern day socialists like myself call for voters to democratically elect the body that will direct this process. We will then accomplish the equality promised in the Declaration."
Musk pointed out that "wherever Marx's ideas have been implemented the people have suffered. They are poorer and less free than they would've been if the enterprising members of society had been left free to create new wealth. The businesses I have created are valued at over a trillion dollars by investors who have bought shares in these businesses. I have over 160,000 employees, 4,000 of whom recently became millionaires because they owned shares of stock in SpaceX. Mamdani has built nothing. He is a taker, never a maker."
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) seconded Musk's observations, saying "the Mamdanis of the world are basically offering ideas that have failed throughout history. Now with 250 years to look back we can and say that we're inheritors of an awfully good legacy. We were lucky the Founding Fathers put their faith in liberty. We are both freer and wealthier than we would have been if Marx's ideas had been used to set up our government 250 years ago."

My opinion , in this moron’s mind, and his leaders. It’s they want a civil war, a revolution. I assure you, I like the Declaration and Constitution and it’ll be anything but civil war.
Did he really say this? People who are unwilling or unable?
Karl Marx said the LAST stage of Capitalism would be Socialism. We dont really have true capitalism. All the regulation and taxes. Trump could unleash an unbelievable period of wealth if he’s just remove those barriers. Income tax is illegal.
“... or unwilling to support himself through his own efforts ...”.
So if I declare that I am unwilling to work, Mamdummy will send money anyway? Cool ... but unlikely.
‘unwilling ...’ == lazy. Hunger has a way of changing that mindset. There is work out there for anyone looking for it. It may not be close or convenient but it is available.
Good work Mr. Semmens but not seeing much satire here. More real reporting. Your job must be getting harder and harder.
...what is the value of life and liberty to a person who is unable or unwilling to support himself through his own efforts?
Tough shxt is my response.if you’re unwilling to support yourself then you’re useless and not mine or anyone else’s problem.
Send this TRASH back to Uganda
“what is the value of life and liberty to a person who is unable or unwilling to support himself through his own efforts? “
First it’s an oxymoron statement. You cannot mix unwilling people and effort in the same sentence. Clearly the unwilling are not using effort, they are unwilling to give effort.
Well, let’s start with unwilling. If you are unwilling, then you deplete the ability of the willing by taxing them. The increased bureaucracy and taxes, the devaluation of the currency to support the unwilling, results in crushing the willing. Socialism is about crushing the willing, then removing their ‘lives and liberty’, for the unwilling. This is what Socialism- in all of its forms (Nationalst, democratic, communist, ect) ends up being forced into to keep promises to the unwilling. That is why in this was addressed in ancient times by Jesus and the disciples : 2 THESSALONIANS 3. The unwilling have made a choice, supporting them results in an evil being placed on the willing. They have refused to be part of the community, and instead attempt to destroy it. Therefore, my interpretation is that someone who is unwilling, per Mandami, should have neither food, nor a vote (which is part of liberty). There should be no representation without taxation.
Those that are unable, should be supported by society. They should have enough food to eat and places to live. They must be willing to do what they can.
Do not let the socialist destroy the willing by mixing the ‘unable’ with the ‘unwilling’. They are totally different things, it’s a socialist magic trick of unrest to claim they are the same.
Mamdani Criticizes Declaration of Independence.
