By worst he means those who do not kick back enough bribe money into his coffers.
No mayors, judges or Reps unless born here. Major oversight of previous generations. Founders didn’t see it as an issue because they never dreamed of 3rd world savages in America.
Who will sell them to give to the money to their founders
everything about rent control is unconstitutional. I cant believe the SC has never ruled it so.
When Dr. Zhivago returned to his home in Moscow after service in the war, he met Comrade Kaprugina at the door and said “welcome”. Comrade Kaprugina replied, “It is not for you to welcome US, Zhivago. There was living space for thirteen families in this one house”. Comrade Mayor needs to pull this garbage on the expensive coops owned by the rich white liberals on the Upper West Side.

Yep. There is also a push by Democrats to allow noncitizens to vote in local elections. It is not prohibited in the Constitution because the Founders never dreamed that such a thing would be considered.

The founders mistake was underestimating the stupid that would evolve in to a political party
Mamdami will spend millions on personal security.
It won’t work.
“...and give their units to nonprofits.”
This is key, the ‘non-profits’ are often funded of course by states often with huge monies from the feds also.
In other words, “TAXPAYERS.” Which is the ultimate point, socialism/communism.
Some landlords may welcome this. The Takings Clause court battles will ensure the owners are compensated at fair market value. They can finally get out of that hellhole.
EC
Straight-up communist.
“Nonprofits”
So the new oligarchs?
MY only question is when Mamdammit will annex the Sudatenland and invade Poland.
By “non-profits “ you mean profiting those you want to profit at the expense of the taxpayers(fixed)
Agreed, “self evident” is like common sense. Not very evident or common to many
This is one of those where I’d like better information on what Mamdani is actually doing. If this is one of those cases where the landlord is pleading that he doesn’t have enough money to make the necessary repairs for the building to make it fit for human habitation, and if there’s someone out there that thinks they can, I don’t think this is such a stupid or unconstitutional idea. In such cases, a landlord can’t afford to fix the building, can’t afford to terminate all of those leases, and can’t afford to return the building to some state as such that it doesn’t impose a cost on the State. Or, possibly: he can afford to do so, but doesn’t want to because there would be no way he could ever return the building to profitability. Such a building may have a monetary value on it due to the leases, but has a real value of less than zero.
So why would a non-profit take a building with a real value of less than zero? Marketing. If you’re raising funds or volunteer hours to make sure a landlord makes a profit on every investment, good luck with that. If you’re raising funds or organizing volunteers to make sure poor people live in decent living conditions, you’re going to be much more successful. And this is why Mamdani is going to give them to non-profits, rather than claiming them for the city.
Is there potential for abuse? Hell yes. The federal reserve loves to prevent economic growth from trickling down by spiking interest rates and causing recessions from which the upper class recovers quickly, but wages never do. When interest rates spike or recessions hit, a landlord may temporarily be unable to maintain his building even when it still has massive value. And who says the non-profits will actually be able to keep it up to code? And the non-profits will have a competitive advantage of not having to pay taxes. But about that last one: maybe providing low-income housing SHOULD be a tax-free thing?
Who couldn’t see that one coming.....?

Though, in their time, they had the Jacobins in France, which are not too far off from the Antifa types.
