Republicans in the Senate are prepared to confirm a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito before the midterm elections.

Sources that are close to the judge told CNN earlier this month that Alito is considering retiring, but has not made a decision yet.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday that the GOP is “prepared” for the possibility of Alito retiring.

SCOTUS appointments alone are why RNC can’t drop the ball for 2026 elections.

Why am I not happy to hear they are prepared to replace Alito?

If we happen to lose the midterms (God forbid!) the Court will be handed an ultra liberal Justice with the retirement of either Alito or Thomas. Both have talked retirement, and Alito was just briefly hospitalized. We need to forestall that from happening. It will destroy our country for good.

I know many on Free Republic have been quite critical of all three of Trump’s Supreme Court nominees.

Which begs the question of, will any future nominees be strong enough conservatives?

If Alito and/or Thomas are considering a retirement in the next few years, this summer would be prime time to choose a replacement. Who knows what will happen in the mid term elections? And the makeup of the Senate next year?

Head RINO McConnell likely gave RINO Thune a couple of RINO names. The RINO senate will likely reject Trump’s first or second choice. RINOs’ gonna RINO.

Trump should nominate Ted Cruz. The Senate would be happy to get rid of him and he’s as conservative as choice as they would likely ever vote for.

You make a good point, plus Cruz won’t muck up the next presidential election either.

It’s going to be tough to better Alito.

Kav and Robert’s handmaiden Conehead are very far off the Mark.
