IMO China's reported population of 1.4 billion a few years ago was really only 1.2 billion, and will be down to about a billion in 5-8 years, then down to maybe 800 million by the early 2040's.
We are very lucky then, that demographics are not destiny.

Kids get in the way of my awesome public education, sex life, vacation, career, cost to much, make me look fat, and make me have to commit to someone (usually, even that’s not true anymore).
