A loving Arkansas father who killed a man he discovered in a car with his 14-year-old daughter last year is taking an incredibly bold step to right the justice system.
As 40/29 News reported, Lonoke County resident Aaron Spencer announced Friday night that he was running for sheriff. The announcement was made on his campaign’s Facebook page.
Here is the announcement video below:

SPENCER: Hello Lonoke, my name is Aaron Spencer. Many of you know my story.
I am the father who acted to protect his daughter when the system failed. I’m also a husband, a combat veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, a contractor, and a farmer.
Through my own fight for justice, I have seen firsthand the failures in law enforcement and in our circuit court. And I refuse to stand by while others face these same failures.
That’s why I’m announcing my candidacy to run for Lonoke County Sheriff.
This campaign isn’t about me. It’s about every parent, every neighbor, every family who deserves to feel safe in their homes and safe in their communities.
It’s about restoring trust where neighbors know law enforcement is on their side and families know they will not be left alone in a moment of need.
As TGP’s Brian Lupo previously reported, Spencer called the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Department on October 8, 2024, to report his missing 14-year-old daughter.
While deputies were en route to his home, Spencer called back around 1:12 am to inform dispatch that he had found his daughter in a truck with Michael Fosler, a 67-year-old man.
After pursuing Fosler, there was a vehicle crash, at which point an altercation allegedly ensued. Spencer shot Fosler during the altercation.
Fosler had previously been arrested and booked in July by another agency for internet stalking of a child and sexual assault, according to Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley.
“We absolutely called 911 during the entire event,” Spencer’s wife said at the time. “We had no idea this man was in contact with our child again.”
“He was [a]waiting 6-9 felonies for what he did…He was looking at the rest of his pathetic life in jail, and our daughter was the only witness.”
Fosler at the time faced OVER 40 child sex crime charges involving Spencer’s daughter, according to 5 News online.
But in an outrageous travesty of justice, Spencer was arrested for killing Fosler. He has since been charged with second-degree murder.
Police claim that Spencer chased and stopped Fosler’s vehicle before opening fire.
If I had a valid vote. Mr Spencer is my man. Just saying.
I hope he wins.
It’s a “felony” to take out the trash in Arkansas?
Up Vote.
I would vote for him.
I’d vote for him if I could.
I like this guy.
“We had no idea this man was in contact with our child again.”
Again and again.
Spencer's wife Heather started a GiveSendGo campaign and revealed the couple's then 13-year-old daughter several months prior was allegedly "targeted, groomed and ultimately raped by the boyfriend of a family friend" — Fosler — after he got the child's phone number. Though Fosler faced pending felony charges and reportedly a "no contact order," he nonetheless contacted the minor victim while he was out on bond, per Heather.
"We let the justice system do its job. The monster who hurt our child was charged quickly, but released even faster on a $50k bond. He was awaiting court in December for several felonies in relation to what he did to our child," the mother said.
So the parents had had Fosler arrested for stalking (and who knows what else) their 13-year-old. But the system let him out to go to her again (at 14-years-old), which Fosler did.
Good on him.
I imagine that I would have done the same thing that he did.
Proud to see an Airborne brother do the right thing!
Did the daughter meet up with him willingly both times? Seems like something is missing here . . .
In a number of states, private citizens can use lethal force to make a citizen’s arrest of a felon if the felon resists.
On top of that, good luck getting a conviction.
Something many people don’t know is that a person doesn’t have to a graduate of a law enforcement academy to be elected. Usually have to get the training within 12 months.
That's irrelevant at that age.
She's still basically a child and cannot technically give informed consent.
Also, considering this monster's history, the father likely saved more than a few more kids from being victims of this predator.
Taking out this kind of trash needs to happen more often. There's no rehabilitating most like this.
And what is it with the likes of people like you who blame the child?
What the guy did was wrong, period. No excuses and it doesn't make it OK if she went with him willingly.
I know I was one stubborn fourteen year-old. I snuck out to see my boyfriend regularly (also fourteen).
I don’t doubt something similar happened here. When teens want to rebel, they will. The risk/reward portion of their brain isn’t perfectly developed yet. There’s no impulse control, and it sounds like this guy may have convinced her that she was perfectly safe with him.
No problem with him killing the maggot.
Why though was the 14 year-old girl in contact with the freak a SECOND time? What is her problem?

Not blaming, just questioning. There is absolutely no justification for what Fosler did. Period.
My question is based in clarifying the story, since there was no information in the story, that I could find, that explained how the daughter ended up in that truck. Was she forcibly kidnapped from the house or was she possibly brainwashed into meeting up with her? Is there another explanation of how a fourteen year old rape victim ended up in the same vehicle as the 67 year old guy who has been charged with the previous kidnap, rape (and whatever else he was charged for)?
I truly hope Spencer gets justice and becomes the Sheriff of his county . . .

Sorry, I feel like I opened a can of worms with the question. Clearly as a 14 year old she can’t consent. But I can’t get my head around the idea of a 67 year old guy with a 13/14 year old girl. There was no indication in the story of how she ended up in the truck with him or what they may have been doing. Was she forcibly kidnapped from her home, was she brainwashed into meeting up with him? Being kidnapped, in mind, would be more than enough justification for dad to do what he did.
There are oodles of stories/movies about this kind of thing. Very strange . . .
