New audiobook release: Economic Sophisms, by Frederic Bastiat

Any time I see a Frederic Bastiat book appear on LibriVox for work and especially when they are completed I am always happy about these. Bastiat has many books already on LV, I would highly recommend them. Bastiat's work is wonderful and his logic in economics is direct and on point.

Today's release (about a week ago) is Bastiat's work "Economic Sophisms". The work is described thus:

Bastiat speaks with the greatest force to the highest order of intellects. At the same time, he is almost the only Political Economist whose style is brilliant and fascinating, whilst his irresistible logic is relieved by sallies of wit and humour which make his Sophismes as amusing as a novel.

Everything you might need is there, the link to the original text in case you prefer reading words instead of listening to them, clicking on his name opens up so you can see the 10 works of Bastiat available as audio mp3s, and also the link to Bastiat's Wikipedia page.

"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it." (Frederic Bastiat)

I miss those early days on FR when Bastiat was a frequent subject of discussion...

Bastiat’s “The Law” is one of my core books that I first read 55 years ago, when I was in high school.

It is a small book which can be read in one sitting.

Agree.

If a reincarnated James Madison posted to FR, very few would read his stuff.

".............very few would read his stuff"

I'm very firmly of the belief that reading things to them, audibly, short circuits that problem. In some instances, it isn't perfect. It's a strong-arm leveraging of "convenience".

There is an inherent power in the spoken word. And the price (free) is no barrier.

I read The Law at about the same age. One of about 4 or 5 most significant books I've read
