While everyone was focused on Charlie Kirk’s assassination this Democrat judge in North Carolina ordered Iryna Zarutka’s murderer Decarlos Brown to be released from prison.
They are trying to make sure he doesn’t even go to trial and is set free.

Yep. This is the first step to setting him free. It will take a while, but they will do it.
In that picture, the man labeled “NYT” tried to help Iryna. He went up front to call the police (as far as I can tell from the videos). Maybe he alerted the driver, too? Then, when the killer left the train, that man ran back to Iryna while on the phone, and when he saw her, he screamed, “OH MY G—!”
If I were there, I probably would’ve done what he did. I’m not a man, so calling police and alerting the driver would’ve been my first reaction.
I’m just surprised the train didn’t have a pull cable or panic button or similar to force the train to stop...
I wondered about the emergency button, too. The videos show emergency buttons next to the exits.
I just found this 2023 story about a fight with a knife on the same transit line in the same neighborhood: https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/crime/charlotte-light-rail-train-stabbing-video-blue-line/275-66652ef8-3502-4138-ad50-705fe5886f1a
That time, a passenger hit the emergency stop button, the train stopped, and everyone exited - including the people who were fighting.
But that situation was different. This time, a crazy maniac flipped out and attacked an innocent young woman, and then he walked around, talking to himself. Maybe hitting the emergency button would’ve set him off again.
We’re all thinking about what we’d do in that situation. But, have you ever been totally oblivious to something terrible that happened right in front of you? Once, for example, a young man drowned in the ocean, and none of us at the beach - not even his group of friends and family - noticed. I’ll always feel sick about that.

I don’t know the answer to your questions. But what I see is a judge sitting in a capital murder case and he’s dotting his i’s and crossing his t’s.
Perhaps, as you suggest, he owns the looney bin and if so, that would be wildly inappropriate.
Bottom line, this guy is going to spend the rest of his years institutionalized.
dotting his i’s and crossing his t’s.

Point taken.

It’s his wife that iirc, I read owns the facility.

“It’s his wife that iirc, I read owns the facility.”
If that’s true, he should lose his law license and be impeached.
