The Republic of Texas began in 1836. Statehood in 1846.
Where I live in Texas, was surveyed and plotted to be sold in 1885 (my ancestors came here in 1889).
My point, the Civil War was long over before anyone could vote for things.
Some of my ancestors did fight in the Civil War, another fought in the American Revolution. My daughter is a member of DAR. She never bothered to become a Daughter of the Texas revolution. Just a matter of paperwork and a little money.

So just who are you quoting in the body of your thread?
You did not give credit for the quote.

Thanks for bringing this up. I had no idea that Civil War Battles were waged that far West.
Arizona Confederate Territory (south of the 34th parallel)
From Wikipedia: Confederate Arizona:
"The Arizona Territory, colloquially referred to as Confederate Arizona, was an organized incorporated territory of the Confederate States of America that existed from August 1, 1861, to May 26, 1865, when the Confederate States Army Trans-Mississippi Department, commanded by General Edmund Kirby Smith, surrendered at Shreveport, Louisiana. However, after the Battle of Glorieta Pass, the Confederates had to retreat from the territory, and by July 1862, effective Confederate control of the territory had ended. Delegates to the secession convention had voted in March 1861 to secede from the New Mexico Territory and the Union, and seek to join the Confederacy. It consisted of the portion of the New Mexico Territory south of the 34th parallel, including parts of the modern states of New Mexico and Arizona." (much more follows in the article)

Land acknowledgments are leftists begging for approval. They are also a subtle jab at the legitimacy of the current inhabitants. Funny this infringing on the natural homeland of certain noble savages does not extend to muslims and “brown people”.
I would walk out of any event that began with such a farce.
