A Chinese national claiming to conduct research as a “visiting scholar” at a prestigious Michigan university now finds herself facing a long prison term after pleading no contest this week to three smuggling charges and making false statements to federal officers.
Chengxuan Han, also a Ph.D. candidate at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, pleaded no contest this week in a Detroit federal court to sending four packages from China containing concealed biological materials to colleagues working in a University of Michigan laboratory.
The incident is the most recent criminal case involving Chinese students possessing potential hazardous biological materials at the University of Michigan (U-M).
As Breitbart News reported, in June the U.S. Attorney’s office in Michigan brought criminal charges against two other Chinese nationals loyal to the Chinese Communist Party for allegedly smuggling into a U-M research lab a fungus that could devastate American crops — biomaterial classified as “a potential agroterrorism weapon.”
Also, the Department of Education announced last month a foreign funding investigation into U-M — a school considered “New Ivy” for offering an Ivy League-level education — citing “inaccurate and incomplete disclosures” in its foreign reports and pointing to its history of ties to China.
In the recent Han case, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Michigan’s Eastern District stated:
On June 8, 2025, Han arrived at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport on a J1 visa. Customs and Border Protection officers conducted an inspection of Han, during which Han made false statements about the packages and the biological materials she had previously shipped to the United States…At the conclusion of the border inspection, Han was interviewed by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and ICE HSI.

He walks out of the alley, turns the corner, and heads down a flight of stairs into a subway station. Looking up and down the tracks, he makes sure he's the only one there. He then takes a metal flask out of his pocket, crouches down, and spills the contents of the flask over the edge of the platform, onto the tracks below. Allowing any Chinese students into American colleges was a bone head move.
When I was a boy, say late to mid 70s, we had FANTASTIC success with our gardens.
Especially Zucchini.
You could grow 3-4 plants and literally feed your family and neighbors with all they needed. You almost could not kill it by neglect. And huge ones, if you didn’t pick them fast enough they could weigh 10 pounds but would get tough that big.
Today?
Start off heathy, get a blight/wilt/mold dies after, if you are lucky, you get 2-3 fruits. My departed cousin (died maybe 5 years ago) was the actual botanist/horticulturist for some mega-millionaire. His estate was so huge he had dedicated grounds keepers and my cousin was in charge of the plants/gardens/shrubbery etc. Owner was one of the Ketchup magnates, can’t remember if it was Heinz or Hunts etc.
Anyway he said the same thing, Zucchini had became so cursed with molds he planned 2 crops of Zucchini per season because no matter what he did they died fast.
WHY????
The answer to me is obvious, look at this story.

That crap already exists in this country...it has been around a long time.
And Trump wants to send 600,000 MORE Chinese agents, aka “students”, into our midst? Absolutely not!
This is the reason 600000 Chinese do not need to be allowed in the US.
Trump must STOP his insane plan to allow 600,000 Chinese (enemy) students! Should be a tenth of that - if that many - and all of them closely monitored 24/7 by our alphabet agencies.
