"The White House is trying to make gas cans fill great again.

In a July 24 letter, the EPA has asked gas can manufacturers to redesign their much-maligned products to fix a long-standing problem: "People hate 'em," said Florida-based eBay gas can reseller Steven Watt, 63. "It's all about the spout."

“Now hurry up & get rid of the stupid start/stop BS. No one wants their motor to shut off every time you stop the car.”

Wife’s Honda has that but it only shuts off if you press the brake down all the way. With a lighter touch it keeps running and holds the car still.

Trump eliminated an important incentive for stop-start when he signed his spending and tax law on July 4. It ended fines for CAFE noncompliance. The Trump administration separately scrapped penalties retroactively to the 2022 model year.

“Store gas out of the sun in a cool place.”

When it’s 100+ there is no “cool place”. I keep it outside in the shade. It expands but doesn’t contract badly. But it expands because it’s under pressure of course, so have to be careful when opening/pouring.

What about that spout?

It takes 3 hands to operate it.

THE NEWER SPOUTS HAVE A “DOG LEG” SHAPE TO THEM, WHICH DOESN’T WORK FOR OLDER VEHICLES.

SPILLS ARE WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE

Yeah nothing wrong with having to fool the car so the motor does not shut off at every f’n intersection /s
This “feature” adds about $1000 dollars to the price of a car.

TAKE EMPTY CAN-—

FIND SPIGOT THAT IS USED FOR BOTTOM OF YOUR RADIATOR SO YOU DRAIN IT.

DRILL HOLE AT TOP AREA OF CAN THAT WILL MATCH THE SPIGOT-—SCREW IN THE SPIGOT-—

VIOLA !!! VENT FOR GAS CAN.

SOMEONE borrowed a can from me years go & it came back without the snap on cap-—Screwed in the spigot-—Still works just fine.

These are cheap on Amazon. I have 10 BJ's cans with my gas reserves for SW Florida hurricane fuel for my 15KW generator. For about $3 per can you get a spout and a vent for the annoying cans of the last 20 years.

Plus 1. I bought one for my 5 gallon gas can. It works great.

I stopped driving last year, due to my eyesight and a bad foot. I still miss it. Once in a while, I would store extra gas with me, on long trips, but almost never, as I was concerned with possible fires and explosions. So, I rarely needed to fuss with a gas container in that manner. Many others do store it, and don’t worry about it being flammable.

The present inventory has not yet been depleted.
Maybe when the retailer has to re-order, he will then order some of those incandescent bulbs, now available.

Some stores won’t realize the choice has opened back up, they will just keep on ordering what’s been selling for the past few years.
They will need to be told about it.

“”THE EPA NAZIS THOUGHT WE WERE LETTING TOO MANY “FUMES INTO THE AIR”.””

And we knew all along that the only fumes going into the air was the methane coming from the BS that they have constantly spread.

Oh yeah, I don’t like it, but I think every car in its class has it. At least there’s an easy workaround. We have one vehicle out of three that has it, not bad.

Some cars do have a disable button that you have to push every time you get in the car.
