Chuckle… definitely NOT a “ Land Yacht”…

It’s a big, beautiful, badass AMERICAN Detroit Steel machine from a muc better time.

I had a 68 Impala SS, the Caprice’s Ballsy cousin.

My 75 Pontiac Bonneville WAS a Land Yacht… and the 400 cu in power plant moved her down the road very nicely.

And both were affordable for an average working American with a factory job at a family to feed.

They were easy to work on in the driveway, and most American men knew how to fix their own cars back then.

I’d put either of those machines up against anything on the road today for comfort and power, and ease of maintenance.

I had a 2 door Caprice with a 396. The cars name was “Low 1, Wa Wa Boogie”.

As a teenager I really got great use out of the back seat, especially with the Catholic girls:)

In the mid 1980s I bought a 1973 Chevy Impala off my uncle for 300 bucks. What a great car! Built like a frigging tank! I think that had a 350 engine in it too. The poor man's Cadillac.

What was that 1959 car with what looked like 2 155 rounds or Jayne Mansfield breasts sticking out from the rear bumper?

A Buick, or Oldsmobile?

He then got a 73 Buick Riviera 455 in gold.
can you say 6 miles to the gallon.
But fun to drive, he lent it to me for graduation prom night.

I have to ping the Free Republic member who absolutely catches what this was like, in his signature—Zhang Fei:

(My dad had a Delta 88. That was a car. It was like driving your living room)

I chuckle every time I see that!

Did the cross country road trip vacation thing in a 1972 Chevrolet Caprice 4 door with my dad, 6 kids and a dog round trip from Albany Georgia to Clovis New Mexico via Hampton Virginia in 1974. What a trip! What an experience! With most of the interstates still under construction we spent a lot of time on two lane US highways. Saw a lot of country. Trip included a two day layover in Oklahoma City due to 4 kids coming down with a slight case of food poisoning.

Dad had ‘73 Imperial. I think a filing cabinet would fit between the grill and radiator.
