I chose the name: Mazelit Liel Yocheved, and I converted last night before shabbat services in Delray, Florida.
Dear friends,
Last night, on the Shabbat of Behar-Bechukotai, the 26th of Iyyar, 5785, I officially converted to Judiasm. After studying Judiasm in Brooklyn for 2 years when I lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn, I moved to an area without a temple for almost 4 years to recover from anorexia. But after October 7th happened, I knew I needed to go back.
There are many reasons why I’ve converted, some of which I’ll cover in a following essay when the dizzyness and excitment of the day finally calms down (I could barely sleep last night, I was so pumped. I still am. I want to shout it from the rooftops!)
I must thank my rabbi, my chosen family, and everyone at Temple Sinai of Delray Beach Florida, including my mentor and guide, Rabbi Moss. I also thank all the organizations, nonprofits, social media groups and others who work tirelessly to defend Jewish statehood and fight antisemitism.

She NOT a “Holocaust survivor”; she wasn’t even alive back then and probably her parents weren’t either.
That story was as follows:
Sammy Davis Jr. converted to Judaism in 1960, finding commonalities between the oppression experienced by black Americans and Jewish communities. He was deeply influenced by Eddie Cantor (who's Jewish), who described the similarities between Jewish and Black cultures to him while he was in the hospital recovering from a car accident that left him with a prosthetic eye. Additionally, Davis was intrigued by a passage from the book "A History of the Jews" by Abram L. Sachar, which highlighted the endurance of the Jewish people despite centuries of oppression. Davis saw in Judaism a faith that resonated with his own experiences and struggles, and he felt a strong affinity with the Jewish community's history of overcoming adversity.
But my point is that I know nothing of this woman. Is there a story that makes this conversion newsworthy or even interesting?
You converted from what to Judaism?
She’s a cosplayer.
Born of a Jewish mother OR converted according to traditional Jewish religious law.
She does not qualify. A Reform temple does not qualify.

No one cares.
Correct. Only an Orthodox Jewish conversion is considered authentic.
LOL!
And this offends you as a Jew? No as a comedian!
My daughter’s best friend in grade school was a Jewish girl. Her mom was a great source of info about the best doctors, the best markets, etc. We occasionally went to their home on Friday night and both of us really liked their ceremonial meal. Brought religion right into the home.
And in a different town, daughter’s best friend in high school was a Jewish girl. We live where we live now because we came to see Sarah when she got married and moved, and we loved this town. We were at their home a few weeks ago for a Jewish holiday dinner. Beautiful family, precious kids and grandkids. best neighborhood in town. Had a terrific dinner, accompanied by wine with every one of the many courses. (oy vey). Again, bringing part of the religious ceremony into the home. I had a nice chat with daughter’s husband, handsome guy, not Jewish, climbing the banking ladder quickly.
Christ is King.
I approve of every religion that doesn’t try to kill non-members. So very happy for her. Whatever brings one peace and happiness is worth celebrating.
Was raised in a Jewish Chicago neighborhood and still have lifelong Jewish friends. Great respect for some very smart people.

That one just whizzed right over your head, didn’t it?
“You are not a Jew unless you are born of a Jewish woman. Ask Michael Medved on that.”
—————
You are badly misinformed. Anyone can convert to Judaism if they are sincere about it, but no Orthodox Jew will recognize anything but an Orthodox conversion as being legitimate. This woman seems to have converted in a Reform synagogue, so I wouldn’t want my son to marry her.
Oh, and Medved may be a decent political commentator, but if this is his position then he is certainly no authority on Judaism.
Nev-er heard of her ...
