10-Year-Old Girl to Graduate College: ‘I Just Enjoy Learning’

A 10-year-old California girl is set to graduate from college this spring. “I just enjoy learning,” she said. “There’s so many interesting things out there.”

Alisa Perales, who learned how to read at 2 years old and began doing algebra at the age of five, started taking classes at Crafton Hills College — a community college in Yucaipa, California — when she was just 8 years old, according to a report by ABC7 WWSB.

“It’s very fun to me,” Perales told the outlet. “It’s almost as fun as playing outside or riding a bike or doing whatever. I just enjoy learning. There’s so many interesting things out there.”

The 10-year-old, from San Bernardino, is now one month away from graduating from the two-year college and is currently waiting to see if she has been accepted to Stanford University.

Upon graduating from Crafton Hills College in May, Perales, who will have just turned 11 years old by the time of the ceremony, will earn two associate degrees — one in multiple sciences and the other in mathematics — with a final GPA that will be “close” to a perfect 4.0, according to a report by Inland Empire Community News (IECN).

Moreover, Perales could have earned an additional two degrees — in computer science and physics — if she would have stayed at the community college for just one more semester, the outlet noted.

“I credit my dad for pushing me to do well in school and try my best to work hard,” Perales told IECN.

The outlet reported that the 10-year-old’s father, Rafael Perales, has guided his daughter on expanding her knowledge since her first birthday, when she moved beyond basic ABCs and 123s.

Yes, I’d also be interested in nopardons’ critique of a 10 year old child prodigy’s manner of speaking explained.

Good for her!

I hope she doesn’t ruin it all by going to some “elite” school for her postgraduate degree(s) where she will be indoctrinated in far-left politics.

Did you two READ the short excerpt that headed this thread, or not? This so-called almost "college grad", who has applied to Stanford ( and perhaps even manage to get accepted ) said: "There's so many interesting things out there. It's very fun to me. It's almost as fun as playing outside or riding a bike,or whatever.", which proves that what I posted is correct! Okay, so she grew up and went to school in California; however, that is not even an almost 11 year old's vocabulary nor grammatically correct English.

And please, do NOT tell me that her supposed superior abilities make up for that; I'm NOT buying it!

She could read at the age of 2? WHAT COULD SHE READ, THE WORD "I"?

I'll grant you that there have been and ARE child prodigies; but they are usually found to be in the fields of music, art, and yes, sometimes math. Then there are IDIOT SAVANTS and...HOAXES.

And please don't attempt to tell me that the child was "nervous" being interviewed bu a reporter.

After you pointing it out,I did and I found no problem with it.

But then again, I'm not an anal retentive grammar cuck.

I doubt that it’s from school; in such cases, it’s usually a parent or parents. But I bet that nobody will ever hear about her ever again, once she does ( IF she DOES ) actually graduate from Standford or another 4 year college or university, UNLESS she cracks up.

You shouldn't call me names, since obviously YOU are almost a total ILLITERATE!

This child is supposedly graduating from some 2 year community college AND she has applied to Stanford,as well as other 4 year colleges.

Her grammar, syntax, and abject lack of even an average 10 year old's vocabulary is appalling; not to mention NOT even at the fifth grade level, where normal kids her age are.

Your reply beggars the imagination!

As you two posted, she did make a grammatical error. Not huge, IMO.

As to the picture. Follow the link to Breitbart. After the fourth paragraph, my computer has the words “Show this post on Instagram.” Click on that. You do not have to log in to Instagram. I clicked the X to make that notification go away. Then I saw her picture. I bet she could have figured that out!

When I went on Breitbart there was NO link to an X post.

There are far more mistakes in what she said than the one pointed out. For example...INCOMPLETE SENTENCES and THE MISUSE OF THE WORD FUN WITH NO ADJECTIVES; not to mention the fact that she has lousy vocabulary skills.

When I went to school, she would have FLUNKED 3rd grade; for such poor verbal and probably writing skill.

I really don't care what she looks like, but thanks.

IF Standford accepts her, it'll be a DEI acceptance. And no way do I believe that at 11, she will be able to cope there. Surely Stanford still has SOME scruples re grading. LOL...what AM I thinking; no they don't; she isn't some Asian who took more AP classes in high school that anyone else, plays at least TWO different instruments to perfection, and got 100% on SATs.

Just look at the girl in Ct. who can neither read nor write, graduated from high school with HONORS, and is struggling at the U of Ct. and now suing the state.
