The family of 17-year-old murder suspect Karmelo Anthony revealed to use a portion of the $400,000 in online donations—originally raised for legal defense—to buy a new home and hire private security, citing “racist threats” they claim to have received following the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old student and beloved member of his high school’s football team.
The shocking revelation came during a court hearing in which Anthony’s bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000 by Judge Angela Tucker of the 199th Judicial District Court, with only 10% required for his release.
With the donation pot overflowing, Anthony is expected to be released imminently, free to await trial from the comfort of his family’s home—soon to be a new one, thanks to donations from far-left sympathizers, activists, and others buying into the narrative of victimhood.
During a recent court hearing, Andrew Anthony, the teen’s father, admitted that the hefty sum raised for the legal defense fund would also fund their relocation and security measures, citing alleged “racist threats” after their address was leaked online, according to the Daily Mail.
Daily Mail reported:
During the hearing, prosecutors asked his father Andrew Anthony why he could not use the more than $415,000 in donated funds for his son’s defense to pay the original $1million bond, which was reduced to $250,000 on Monday.
Just 10 percent of that amount must be paid, meaning Anthony will likely be free very soon.
Andrew Anthony said the fund was to be used for Anthony’s legal defense. But he also disclosed that the cash would be used for security and to help the family move after the threats they have allegedly faced since the killing.
The revelation comes after a spokesperson for the family said they can’t leave their after their address was leaked online, leading to ‘graphic and racist threats,’ which included images of ‘black children with knives stuck in their head.’
Anthony’s attorney Michael Howard said, regarding the money: ‘It would be disingenuous to say there isn’t money… But it is not a bond fund. This family needs to be able to survive.’
The accused teen killer is expected to post bond later on Monday. He will have to wear an ankle monitor and won’t be able to leave his parents’ home without permission from Judge Angela Tucker.
At the time of this writing, the donation for Austin Metcalf’s family stands at $347,679, raised primarily through a GoFundMe page set up by his father, Jeff Metcalf.
For the suspect, Karmelo Anthony, the donation total is reported as $428,022, collected via a GiveSendGo fundraiser. This indicates that Karmelo’s family received at least $80,000 more than Anthony’s.
Austin Metcalf tragically died in his twin brother’s arms after being stabbed in the chest at a school track meet earlier this month. According to the arrest report, Anthony was sitting under another school’s tent when Metcalf asked him to move.
An altercation followed, and Anthony reportedly unzipped his bag, threatened Austin, and then stabbed him directly in the heart with a black knife.
Witnesses say Anthony fled the scene and was later arrested. His only explanation? “He put his hands on me. I was protecting myself.”
But here’s what’s not being said loudly enough: Anthony brought a knife to a high school track meet.
There were two funds. See post 50.
I’ve always wondered how these things are taxed. I always heard that only ‘gifts’ below a certain amount were tax-free...
Thanks. Wish they had these funds 50 years ago. I would have gone with a sob story and gotten enough money to buy me and my sons a house. I’ve never owned one. Couldn’t afford it when they were little, and by the time I made enough money to pay a mortgage, they were ready to leave the nest, and I didn’t need one.
In Texas, a home cannot be attached in a bankruptcy case. It’s smart to use a large portion of the donations to buy a much more expensive house.
The family keeps the money and the state will have to pay for his defense.
Dominic Carter?
(He’s also an anti-Semite who supports ‘Holocaust denial’.)
When he ran for governor of Louisiana in 91 he received 60% of the White vote who thought the above was irrelevant.
‘60% of the people’ do stupid things all the time.
I certainly don’t think racism and antisemitism are ‘irrelevant’.
And I can’t put any store by someone with such a seriously flawed intellect and judgment - or by anyone who thinks Duke’s writing is ‘exquisite’.
these paranoid voices in your head, the word " black" is a trigger, all that garbage in your head is well past the rotten stage.
You need some cbt to help you cope with the truth.
Scott adams is right. Stay away from them and you.
(‘60% of the people’ do stupid things all the time.)
No, they were doing the right thing. When Duke ran he staged Duke Rallys around the state during the campaign. They were packed with patriots who supported his policies.
(Scott adams is right. Stay away from them)
Scott Adams was indeed right 👍
He had a racial awakening.
Grow up.
YOU posted ALL BLACKS were like that. That was clear and unambiguous.
Another poster chirped in with a book at David Duke that would validate such a view.
To practice discernment, I will read Duke’s book (have read excerpts previously), but geesh.
Stop making excuses for posters who post racist ‘stuff. Accept that you got busted for doing so.
Pathetic.
Sounds to me they were packed with segregationist racists.
All Blacks? Your mind is reading into things as I predicted/ said, go read my post again., your brain is past rotten, your butt hurt is 2nd degree blisters and painful. Why don’t you put some sauce on that and bite it.
Clear. Unambiguous. No qualifications to your sentence
Think about what you are going to post before you drop that kind of racist crap.
Don’t forget to pay the gift taxes.
Correction, Google says you don’t have to pay taxes on donations. Maybe I can get my boss to donate my paycheck to me without IRS deductions. I’ll even take a 5% pay cut.
(Sounds to me they were packed with segregationist racists.)
Rubbish, and there’s nothing wrong with the separation of races, which is what blacks still want. Just go visit your public schools today when it’s recess or lunchtime. You’ll find blacks sitting all together with a few guilt-ridden White students trying to buddy up to thel. Nevertheless, both Both Duke and Pat Buchanan ran on the same near policies getting blacks off welfare. He pushed and campaigned for a legislative proposal which was the requirement that welfare recipients be tested for the use of narcotics. The recipients had to show themselves to be drug-free to receive state and federal benefits under his proposal. There’s nothing wrong with that policy is it? Hell, even Bill Clinton adopted some of Duke’s campaign issues when he ran for president against Bush 1.
(All Blacks? )
It should be ‘b’lacks
Most journalists these days have been instructed to never capitalize the W when referring to Caucasian people but have been instructed to always capitalize the b when referring to black people. It’s reversed racism.
The corrupt public schools have indoctrinated you well.
Yeah, they started ‘corrupting’ me in 1959. I’m pretty sure I enjoyed a far superior public education than you did.
Don’t post to me anymore, and I won’t post to you.
You’re on my list.
