Suuuuure. 24 Trillion. In Zimbabwe dollars?
Interesting, China has been stealing them.
24 Trillion? That’s worth the investment of a Marine Division if Congress is up to raising the authorized strength and basing the 5th Marine Division there.
If we can be tactically smart and avoid a natuon building attitude this might work to the benefit of both countries.
But, but, think of all the unemployed children if modern mining methods were implemented! /s
If democrats ever take power again, they Wil, spend that in the first month or so
This should prove entertaining...
No
We can provide the weapons and train their soldiers here in the U.S. how to use them but not one of our soldiers should set foot on their soil.
No.
L
And again, No.
I trust the Congolese more than any democrat.
Within 5 years, some nation might have an army of killer robots policing the Congo. The robots might be digging in the mines, or they might be wrangling the slaves.
Member of my extended family travels frequently to Eastern Congo. He founded the 15,000 sq kilometer Okapi Preserve there. He’s the world’s authority on that elusive animal
About 7 years ago, he had 7 of his people and several Okapis killed by rebels
The natives are the Mtubi pygmy tribe. None of them are over 5 ft tall, and so it’s a bit of a mismatch
The Congolese government now has a full time police force to keep it from happening again
Sorry, no. We’re not willing to send American soldiers off to die for mineral rights in an African shithole. We will get the minerals elsewhere. The US military is not for hire nor is it a for profit enterprise.
Stay out of Africa. It’s a black hole
Too bad the Wagner group is gone. It would have been right up their alley. How about the French Foreign Legion?
If he can write checks of those mineral rights, why not build an army of foreign mercenaries to clean things up?
To use our volunteer military for such an enterprise would be the death of our forces and patriotism, already waining from 24 years of endless useless wars that impoverished our children.
Move over Canada, Congo will become the 51st state!
Very skeptical of this offer. We send our troops—with no interest Zimbabwe’s problems and no share in their mineral wealth—over there to boot the rebels and then…what? Businesses get minerals to sell and families get coffins to bury? Zimbabwe tells the world we’re somehow big meanies who steal their resources and kill their citizens? Then we go home with more trillions in debt? I’ve seen that movie many times.
“Democratic” Yeah, any outfit with that word in its title is usually commie.
If so, either walk away rapidly or treat like a rabid dog — like the CCP.
Mebbe we ought to be funding the rebel group. Bet their deal would be better.
