Struggling Washington Post Dropping ‘Democracy Dies in Darkness’ Slogan for This New One

The Washington Post is in a major rough spot. The once iconic publication has lost a ton of its traffic since 2021 and their unhinged lefty writers are deserting them.

Now they’re attempting to rebrand. They are dropping their ‘democracy dies in darkness’ slogan in favor of a new one that’s not much better.

It’s not clear how this is supposed to turn around their losing streak.

scoop: The Washington Post today is unveiling a new mission statement that has been in the works for months

They are being true to their left wing pathology. To the Left, truth is an option but only one of many options. It is just another story, and everyone has their own story, just like everyone has “their own truth.” So someone can spin the worst lies and defend themselves by saying “this is my truth.” That is what the new WaPo motto is saying.

“They should have changed it to “Democracy dies with Democrats.””

I stole that to post on other sites - attributed it to “A FReeper”

That’s good - or ‘No more Liberal Elite Jerks Working at the Post.’ Has a nice ring to it if and when they fire all the jerks.

“‘Democracy Dies in Darkness’ Slogan”

And how many stories of Democrat malfeasance and corruption did the Washington Post sit on or kill in order to protect democrats?

Storytelling is spouting fiction narratives. Stories are not reporting truth…news.

This, the evil bastards know all too well.

I think they should have simply amended their previous mission statement:

“Democracy dies in darkness. We turn out the lights!”

Riviting Storytelling?

Is this serious or satire? ( I haven’t read the whole article.)

Reflecting our part in the degradation of our culture. We’ve allowed the turning of the U.S. foundation upside-down.

from Brave search:
US Founding Fathers View of Democracy

The Founding Fathers of the United States had a complex view of democracy. They were wary of what they perceived as “mob rule” or “democracy,” fearing that it could lead to tyranny of the majority over a minority. Instead, they envisioned a republic, where the government would be structured to protect individual rights and limit the potential for majoritarian tyranny. This is reflected in the U.S. Constitution, which includes measures to prevent simple majoritarian rule and protect minority rights.

For instance, the Founding Fathers included provisions such as the Electoral College for electing the president, indirect election of senators until the 17th Amendment, and a bicameral legislature where the House of Representatives is elected directly by the people, while the Senate was originally chosen by state legislatures. These mechanisms were designed to ensure that the government was not solely based on direct popular will but also on more deliberative and representative processes.

The Founding Fathers also believed in the importance of a system of checks and balances to prevent any one branch of government from becoming too powerful. This system was intended to protect individual liberties and prevent the concentration of power that could lead to tyranny.

In summary, while the Founding Fathers recognized the importance of popular participation in government, they were cautious about the potential dangers of direct democracy and sought to create a framework that balanced popular will with protections for individual rights and minority interests.

Is this a joke? Storytelling? That's what got them into the trouble they're in.

I believe their new slogan is : We suck! You know we lie. We hate you...and you despise us. We should quit in shame but we will persist. Did we say “We suck?”

“Children are sometimes punished for telling stories!”

Yes. But today, the power of the story is what’s important. Not whether it’s actually true.

I, Rigoberto Menchu, for example. And many others.
