PERFECT WATER DROP ON SUNSET HOLLYWOOD HILLS FIRE.
VIDEO AT LINK....................
(Excerpt) Read more at x.com ...
It was all helo last night and they did an amazing job knocking down the Hollywood fire. Fixed wing basically doesn’t night drop. It’s too dangerous. 120-150mph at 200’ at night in hilly terrain? Nope. There was a company in Colorado a couple of years ago that claimed they could do just that. On the very 1st night of testing... crash.
I’ll bet they wish they still had a few of those massive Mars Amphibians from WWII still flying.
Yes, but they are designer bags.................
If that footage is indeed legit...
I won’t print what I am thinking...
Saw a show on tv about them. They are a really rare aircraft now, as parts are no longer available to keep them flying.
I don’t know why they cannot make new ones they worked so well. Just add modern technology and you have perfect firefighting machines..................
That was awful. It was done by a white heterosexual male, so it was racist.
Remember, L.A. fired all the firefighters that would not take the Covid shots.
So, all that’s left are these people.................
This is an oldie but goodie. Guy cuts down giant Douglas fir, with about a foot of clearance on each side of two buildings, nails it. Jump to 1:01 for the payoff.

Yes, I saw that!....................
God forbid a smelt was scooped up, because as we all know he who smelt it has 5,000n ngo lawyers filing suit today.

FWIW, NBC Channel 4 reported multiple times last night that the helicopters were being loaded at the Reservoir
Imagine if the LA river had a variable height dam installed at the end of it. Save drain water for stuff like this. Helicopters could drop down and scoop up a bag almost anywhere.
Where did the water come from?
$10/liter bottles from Erewhon?
Perrier!.................
Thanks!
I have always been a huge fan of DC-3s...just a beautiful machine, tough, reliable, can stay in the air consistently, easy to maintain, wonderful to fly, and can land nearly anywhere there is a flat spot.
I was on Cape Cod a few years back, and heard the unmistakable sound of reciprocating engines. Then this flew over my head...
When my wife and I left the house we were at and drove down the road, a mile or two away, I came across these in a field. A big, grass field:
It was all I could do not to walk around them, and I kept a respectful distance!
But these things are still being flown, even this example below where they retrofitted that fabulous and rugged airframe with turboprop engines!
At night, in high winds and hilly terrain...very impressive.
Pete from “Always” would have approved!
Helps make sense, considering the terrain and small size of the reservoirs.
Honestly, I’m not looped in on this due to lack of interest (just responding to what’s posted).
