I honestly can’t tell you the last time I watched “Saturday Night Live.” As a kid in the '90s, it was a weekly ritual. And then it just stopped being funny. The only thing worse than a skit show that isn’t funny is a skit show that isn’t funny and that is blatantly partisan in how it handles politics. And you don’t have to watch SNL to know that it has been rabidly anti-conservative for a long time now. When they do something particularly awful, you hear about it on social media.
Eight years ago, SNL reacted to Donald Trump’s victory with Kate McKinnon portraying Hillary Clinton singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
This cold open made waves for being a major departure for the show, as it set a somber, mournful tone without even trying to be funny.
After Trump’s victory on Tuesday, I decided I’d have to see how SNL was going to handle Trump’s latest victory.
Of course, it was a heavy-handed attempt to mock Donald Trump’s 2024 victory, devoted to partisan fear-mongering far more than actual humor. Right off the bat, you knew it was going to be bad. The cold open began with four cast members standing somberly in a row, looking like they were at a funeral. It was clear at this moment that this was going to be worse than the Kate McKinnon skit eight years earlier.
The cast—and I have no idea what their names are, so pardon my vagueness—sets the tone by framing Trump’s win as “shocking and even horrifying,” clearly not even considering the fact that they may still have viewers who are happy with the election results. And considering the huge swing to Trump in 2024 over 2020, they may still, even if it's only a few. Instead, we got left-wing

Obama was a cult leader, and he encouraged it!
It was sick period of our nation.
“I’m sure every single member of the Saturday Night Live cast was a Harris supporter, but what if one of them wasn’t?” Maher asked. The comedian continued, “What if one of those cast members was for Trump? Would they have felt comfortable saying so? I really don’t think so. They would have had to keep it to themselves. That’s not a good place for us to be.”
Tried to watch it on X. I made it half way through but it was boring.
I hope it's on his early to do list to FIRE every U.S. Attorney like Clinton did. That would be a good start.
It was dark and sinister, more so than ever.
I haven’t watched SNL in 25 years.
I remember watching the very first SNL show back in 1975. I was a senior in High School.
Still, the SNL late 80s-early 90s cast were also good. Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Cris Rock, Chris Farley, Victoria Jackson, John Lovitz, Jan Hooks, Rob Schnieder, David Spade, Tim Meadows, Adam Sandler and Dennis Miller and Norm MacDonald on the Weekend Update.
Many of them are now leading conservatives: Schnieder, Miller, Jackson, and Lovitz for example.
I gave up on them when the Not Ready for Prime Time gang left.
Gave up early to mid 80s.
Now THAT has become "old-media"...and they know it by their dismal ratings.
Perfect opportunity for Elon types to buy/create digital platforms as outlets for a message of "do not comply/conform to the left's insanity of human destruction controlled by a handful of eccentric/old/wealthy/leftist elitists in OLD MEDIA".
...that'll put a scorpion in their shorts.
The PBD podcast on YT got the same number of viewers on election night as NBC News.
agreed it was hilarious, esp as the cast threw the three “new” cast members under the bus by saying they hadn’t voted for Trump. Very apt to show how they have no loyalty or honor to each other.
Just their way of signifying how utterly unimportant they really are
So did we. It was TERRIBLE! Completely stupid and not clever in any way
SNL has lost it. Even a little more cowbell won’t save it.
Who watches it now?
I don’t know a soul that does.
They really believe everyone thinks like they do, even after the ass-kicking they received.
By now it is clear it is a mental disorder, and should be treated as such.

You're starting to see the magic of Bill Maher Civ.
If Maher had been around while Hitler was coming to power he would have nipped 'the evil' part of Hitler's agenda in the bud. And left Hitler with a 'fascism' that was a silly economic system even more stupid than communism. People talk about what it would be like going back and kill Hitler - but the problem was the 'culture' at the time. Kill Hitler and you might get worse. But take away the totalitarian 'woke' part of Hitler's power/message and he's got nothing. And the evil behind him becomes 'not transferable'. Bill Maher taking on WOKE was courageous and brilliant and he will never be rewarded or recognized for what he's done. It's a strange world.
Pathetic.
Recently started watching some old Laugh-in shows.
Silly in general but with frequent clever quips.
Blatantly anti-conservative however. Even that long ago.
