Much of that million will be persons with a criminal past in their home country, and already captured again in the process of committing some criminal activity somewhere in the US. Not at all necessary to send Federal agents door to door to find them.
Plus there will be a vast amount of self-deportation going on, whether there is a “debt” owed to the cartels or not.
Very good to give an early eviction notice, US citizen’s cries for deportation have gone on way to long. Silenced by our corrupted government and media.
It is certainly a good idea to give early notice - on multiple levels. By making it part of his election platform it turns the election into a clear mandate if he makes it into the White House.

No. He tossed that out as an arbitrary suggestion in order to mitigate fears of a full and immediate deportation of all illegals, and to make it known that a steady plan with goals is needed. I hate musleading media hyperbole.

Also, you’ll be surprised at the SELF deportation......it’ll be an unforced mass exodus.
It should be all of the recent ones who showed up here pleading economic refugee status.... plead the status, given a far future court date, paroled into the country and free to get all the government money, housing and etc. they can get.
One million is a start. Why can’t some get into their small, odd-shaped, reality-distorting brains that being in America illegally means that you are an invader who has no right to be here? Stop ALL monetary, health and social benefits to these bums. If anyone “assists” these invaders, they should be arrested for that crime. If NGO’s assist them, seize their assets and remove their nonprofit status. Enough is enough.
That would solve probably half the problem. If they can't work, they won't come here.
My plan would include.
30 days to self deport
Self-Deportees may be allowed back through a robust legal guest worker program.
Those who choose not to self deport in 30 days will be forcefully deported to their home country or the country of our choosing.
They will forfeit their right to joining the guest worked program forever.
Legal status is all that matters. The length of time an illegal has been here has no bearing. Anchor babies and “dreamers” will remain with their families and be deported.
Parasite purging is a great first move.
Vance is an excellent off the cuff speaker...He'll clobber Kamala...and I doubt her "chosen one" will debate Vance.
Two candidates and not even a single American has voted for either.

On the other hand....the Dems wants to make them all “voting” citizens....and they’ve said it out loud.
The US government would probably find it cheaper to offer them a free ride home and $250 in pocket money (for a limited time) rather than putting our LE lives at risk as they gather the aliens up. After the expiration, make it clear that the hammer is coming down hard.

You are right. They’ll be self-deporting to get away from the chaos we’re going to see and because the Cartels lied to them and deceived them about job opportunities.
