'The Daily Show' had been headed to Wisconsin this week to cover the Republican National Convention, but announced Sunday they will cancel Monday's show and film the rest of the week from New York.
The Daily Show canceled its plans to film from Milwaukee during the Republican National Convention this week following the attempted assassination of Trump on Saturday. The program will not air on Monday, and return Tuesday from New York City.
“The Daily Show will not broadcast Monday (tomorrow) but we’ll be back up Tuesday through Thursday from our NYC studio,” the series announced on social media. “Our apologies for the inconvenience, but due to logistical issues and the evolving situation in Milwaukee, we need to reschedule our events on the ground in Wisconsin and will look to make those up in the coming weeks.”
Discussion of security at the RNC arose this weekend following the assassination attempt against the presumptive nominee at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Trump’s campaign said after the event he was doing “fine,” and he later announced he would still travel to Milwaukee and speak at the convention, which begins Monday.
The Daily Show had been set for on-the-ground coverage of the convention, and was going to film its daily installments at the Marcus Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee with Jon Stewart and the news team sharing hosting duties. It’s unclear what day, if any, Stewart will appear this week, given he typically hosts Monday.
Representatives for the series did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The show hosted a voter registration and dog adoption event on Sunday in Milwaukee titled “Indogcision: Rescuing Democracy,” originally planned to kick off their week of programming.

I saw a clip from his show a couple of nights ago with 2-3 other woketard morons, grown men literally jumping around in fear about “the monster” (Trump) coming to get them. How can one possibly respect or have any dialogue people who are that pathetic?

If I were him, I'll just say I'm a Democrat. But Trump is going to win the election in the landslide. Wave the white flag. He should announce that from his studio in New York.
I’ve never seen more than a few clips of the Daily Show, but I do know that Stephen Colbert used to be one of their main personalities. Stephen Colbert made a horse race analogy on his own show that compared Trump to Hitler and said the horse should be sent to the glue factory. Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to send that horse to the glue factory.
I will say one thing for Jon Stewart: he did a lot to help the 9/11 first responders. I saw a video of him speaking at Congress and he really let them have it for dragging their feet on that issue.

They do. The convention is a major voter energizer and policy display with the major candidates selling their wares. If it isn’t covered, it takes a lot of publicity away from the GOP. So any independents or on the fence others will not get the offerings of the GOP. It’s an excuse, not a reasoning.

So liberal comedian Jon Stewart and his boys decided the best thing they can do is just cool it.
And nothing of value was lost.
