Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), rumored to be one of the final three candidates for Trump’s choice of running mate, appeared on CNN’s "State of the Union" Sunday and refused to accept host Dana Bash’s warped narrative of Trump’s intentions should he retake the presidency. Even as we’ve witnessed example after example of the Biden administration using the Department of Justice as a weaponized political tool, those on the left deflect and say it’s actually Trump who’s the danger here.
What a load of you know what.
Bash tried to sell that narrative to Rubio, but he wasn’t having it.
“Senator, Donald Trump has said that he would go after Joe Biden, that he would go after members of the Biden family. That’s never something that we’ve heard— ,” Bash began.
“Donald Trump has said that his — no, he hasn’t. I watched the debate — you guys did a great job — I watched it and he was asked and he said, ‘My vengeance will be winning and restoring America, making America great again.’ He did not say, ‘I’m gonna go after them,’ and so forth and, ‘I’m gonna put them in jail,'” Rubio jumped in.

Rubio does not say whether Trump has told him about being his running mate.
Rubio is correct that Trump has said in the past that success will be his revenge.
Trump's Down but Not Out—'My Revenge Will Be Success'
(Note: That headline was written just after he’d just been convicted in the Manhattan business fraud trial; that’s why it says “down but not out.”)
Bash plodded on:
“Not at the debate, but he has said it elsewhere. Not at the debate, you’re right. He’s said it elsewhere,” Bash corrected.
“He has repeatedly said that his revenge will be to make America great again, to undo all their bad public policies. And, by the way, he was president for four years. He didn’t go after Hillary Clinton, he didn’t go after Joe Biden, he didn’t go after Barack Obama, he didn’t go after any of their consultants. We didn’t see under him what we’re seeing now,” Rubio said.
Exactly. Trump has a track record, and he didn’t try to turn the country into a banana republic like Biden has.
Department of Justice to Speaker Johnson: No Prosecution of Merrick Garland for Contempt of Congress
Although Trump said in 2023 he would consider appointing a special prosecutor to investigate Biden’s handling of classified documents, he has more recently gone on record saying that such a move would be bad for the country:
He told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in June 2024 that, while he would have “every right” to go after his political opponents, it would be “wrong.”
“So number one, they’re wrong. It has to stop because otherwise we’re not going to have a country,” Trump had told Hannity. “Look, when this election is over, based on what they’ve done, I would have every right to go after them. And it’s easy because it’s Joe Biden and you see all the criminality.”
I concur with this social media poster: Rubio crushed Bash in this mini-debate.
I'm watching Dana Bash on State of the Union interviewing Marco Rubio. She’s not up to it at all. He’s walking all over her. She’s slipping. She needs to agree to a cognitive test. We can’t afford the next four months with her on CNN. She must be replaced.— Mitchell Kaplan (@mitchellakaplan) July 7, 2024
It won’t be Rubio...They’re not gonna play musical residences.
After Trump won the election, he specifically said he won’t go after Hillary, because it would be devicive.
I tried to watch it. I just can’t stand her.
Count how many times she twitches when he says ‘Trump’...
He wasn’t that impressive.
That skank is insufferable.
“Look who got elected in Italy.”
Look who didn’t get elected in France.
“...Moderator Dana Bash is not without controversy. Bash’s former husband is an attorney and former Chief of Staff at the CIA.
And, Jeremy Bash is one of the notorious 51 liars from the intel community who signed a letter in 2020 claiming the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation. Bash and the others obviously knew this was a lie.
Jeremy Bash currently serves as national security analyst for NBC News and its cable division, MSNBC...” -—GP
Gee...how did he win the first time without a woman...
He Trump picks Rubio then he will lose my heart.
Love it.
Hillary is a "device" alright.
I think the word you were looking for is "divisive": causing division.
how did he win the first time without a woman...
He ran against a despicable woman.
What Senator Rubio should have said was,
If they didn’t break the law, then they have nothing to worry about.
Don’t necessarily agree that Trump can’t win without a female VP, but I do think it would help. My preference is based on the idea that, at some point there will be a woman president. I want that person to be a competent woman from the right, not a left-wing communist hack from the dim party.

I also think there are plenty of GOP women capable of filling that role right now.
They have to be smart in so many bad ways because they can’t afford to be honest about anything. It’s their only choice of “lifestyle” now, and it’s starting to look like there’s no escape except to be serving time in prison, where they’ll find plenty of other people who look like them.
I didn’t think the candidates for President and Vice President could be from the same state. Anyone have input about this?
They can if they are willing to forfeit the electoral votes of the state...in this case, 30.
Saw someone suggest that if the ticket won, it would not apply if they moved prior to the Electoral College voting...but that would be playing it dangerous...though if they won by more than 30 Electors, that would not be necessary.
