I'm not sure why the Biden team keeps making the same mistake over and over again, seemingly thinking if they just get Joe out there more, they can convince people he's competent. That's a horrible strategy, as he only continues to make things worse.
For example, with his ABC interview on Friday night, he needed to allay any fears, or why do it?
Yet once again, he only dug the hole deeper, and it only made things worse. So, again, why do it?

I think Biden’s attitude is that he’s not just going to leave. He’d rather lose in a fight (perhaps defeated by polling or campaign money), and I don’t criticize that.
The fight is not just to get Biden out, but also to pick the person most likely to defeat Trump. The Democrats need the fight.
My theory is that Team Biden insisted on holding the debate so early in the year because they knew Biden was slipping, and getting worse with each passing day. They wanted to get him out there as early as possible in the hope that he would have enough left to get through the night without any major blunders. Even if he only had a mediocre performance, the Dems and the media would claim Biden turned in a “strong performance”, won the debate, and that no further debates would be necessary. It blew up in their faces, and now they are desperately trying to show that the debate was a fluke. Needless to say, it isn’t working.

I think you’re right. Team Biden took a chance. They rolled the dice, hoping a strong early showing would allow Biden to then retreat to the bunker - just like he did in 2020.

There are two factions surrounding Joe - one of which WANTS the world to see his dysfunctions, and therefore supports their contention he is unfit for continuing in office, and the other which hopes against hope that THIS time, Joe will come alive and display all the “old” vigor and spry behavior of perhaps forty years ago.
The second faction is much like Charley Brown as Lucy snatches the footfall away yet one more time, and Charley wrecks himself once more.
FACE IT, all of Joe Biden’s best days are now behind him.
Imagine:
The day-to-day job of a president is to make yes/no decisions.
Joe has completely retained the ability to make yes/no decisions gained from about 50 years at high governmental levels.
If you want an actor, go to Hollywood.
If you want a President looking out for ordinary people, look at Joe’s track record, and vote for him come voting time.

1) Tucker Carlson was in Australia recently. He said he knows someone who knows Valerie, Joe’s sister. Valerie supposedly said in about 2019 that the family was upset because he had dementia, and was running for POTUS. (Audience: Much laughter at Tucker’s laughing, & sheer absurdity of it all... )

2) Was listening to James Golden’s radio show on WABC this am. He had as a guest a woman with kind of aristocratic nickname. She had a few things to say about Biden and the machinations behind the scenes. One is that since at least January, Democrats have been discussing how to get rid of Joe. Something to do with a virtual mini-convention that would be fairly easy to do, contrary to media reports... She said other things that were very interesting but my brain has been stressed lately so forgot them...

I feel badly for the young lady. I know Donald Trump would never do that to her. And Trump’s fans would’ve embraced her and asked her to join in on the selfie, not tell her to get out of the way. I hope she learned an important lesson that she takes with her the rest of her life. Democrats are the real racists.
