Sen. Tim Scott appears determined to take himself out of the running to be Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick.
In an interview on CNN’s State of the Union with host Jon Karl, Scott said he stood by his decision to certify the 2020 presidential election, despite widespread evidence of voter fraud that tipped the election in Biden’s favor.
Here is a transcript of the exchange:
JON KARL: OK. Senator, the day before that violent mob attacked the Capitol, you put out a statement explaining your decision to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.
Do you stand by that? You were not one of those that challenged the results. You voted to certify Biden’s election victory. Do you stand by that?
SCOTT: Certainly. I will stand by that decision
...... Snip.......
KARL: All right, and very quickly, we’re just about out of time, but you had said that Mike Pence absolutely did the right thing when he defied Donald Trump’s demand to — to not certify that election. Do you still stand by that, that Pence absolutely did the right thing on January 6th?
SCOTT: The Constitution is clear. What we’re trying to focus on is how do we make sure we get four more years where the American people, particularly kids like me, growing up in poverty, have the best future we could possibly have.

As I suspected. Scott is another Pence.
“He’s right - the Constitution is clear.”
Amazing how nasty people get when the constitution gets in there way.
That doesn’t add up to saying that Joe Biden won the election fair and square. It doesn’t even really add up to saying that Pence was right — just that Pence could only do what he did. What Trump wanted Pence to do wasn’t really an option.
Scott has always been a squish. Did anyone really expect better from him? We know that Trump often makes horrible judgments about personnel. Happily Scott outed himself.
There is pretty much no doubt, Pence could have refused to count the electors that had been officially selected and sent by the states. But I think he thought better of it, as there wasn't really any evidence that hadn't already been presented at the state level, as the official state electors were being chosen, to justify him refusing the count their votes. Nothing that I know of has come out since then, either, to justify him not counting the official state electors.
And I'm not saying you feel this way, but most who wanted Pence to block the electoral college vote count, think that the election would have somehow then been magically overturned. But why would they think that, when now several years later there's still nothing concrete that shows votes were illegally taken from Trump, and/or given to Biden. It may be probable that votes were phony, but you have to have proof of guilt in America, it's a bedrock principle (a good one to boot).
I think it's pretty obvious had Pence blocked the electoral college vote count, without sufficient evidence that the states hadn't already heard, both he and Trump would have been immediately impeached so the electoral count could continue, at least by the next day. They impeached Trump anyway for simply calling the protest that got out of hand.
So what people are saying they actually wanted - Pence to block the electoral college from proceeding - would have ended up a lot worse for Trump than it already has, since the actual evidence is still scant that Biden's votes were fraudulent. There was clearly a ripe environment for fraud, but that is not the same as proving any fraud actually took place. And only by concrete proof will any elections be overturned.
Byron Donalds is everything that Scott is not.
Tim must have been paid a bunch of money to give that endorsement. He is out of Trump’s program.............
Is Tim Scott the dude many wanted as VP for President Trump?
I like Tim Scott allot but zero chance I’d want him as VP after this.
No more backstabbing GOP Elites. The country is hanging in the balance now and we have to make the right choice now or it’s over.
I sooner go with Vance.
(Is Tim Scott the dude many wanted as VP for President Trump?)
Yes!
(Byron Donalds is everything that Scott is not.)
He’s another one the founders wouldn’t approve of.
(Once the objections started with AZ the “ insurrection “ happened. Planned.
AZ, GA, MI, PA and WI were going to be contested. Required Pence to take each objection and call for a televised 2 hour debate I each chamber.
That was instantly stopped.)
That’s exactly what happened.
Thanks for posting all that, Anthony. You’re a godsend!
(And after all this time there still is nothing concrete you can hang your hat on that proves the election was stolen. )
That’s insane illogical thinking. There were tons of proof it was stolen.
“He’s not bright enough, and he’s shown his propensity to join up with the Deep State against Trump.”
Also, the long-time bachelor got engaged: “The South Carolina Republican and Noce will marry in Scott’s home state, Scott’s spokesperson Nathan Brand confirmed to The Hill. This means their wedding will come shortly after the 2024 Republican National Convention in July and before Election Day in November.”
The timing is weird and a little icky. Waiting until AFTER the Convention in case he’s announced as VP. If he’s not, the date will give him an out to be able to kick his fiance’/beard to the curb. He won’t need her.
Well he is mabey going to be President one day.
This “minority”? Yeah disagree, but you don’t have to dig a deeper hole & purposefully come off like a racist dick. You aren’t macho, MAGA or manly 🫣🙄
That would have been 100% better. Too many on our team think they need to agree & change subjects 🤔
(This “minority”? Yeah disagree, but you don’t have to dig a deeper hole & purposefully come off like a racist dick.)
I only speak the truth. I don’t believe in political correctness!
Are you saying that you don’t cast a vote for any candidate in a Senate election or that you’d never support a former Senator for another political office? The latter seems sensible enough, but if you’re telling everybody that you boycott Senatorial elections- have you considered that the reason that institution sucks so badly might be because too many good, sensible people opt out of bothering to vote for good, sensible candidates & that because of that, you have helped create the very situation that annoys you.The worst possible answer to fraud, corruption or disloyalty is boycotting your right to vote 😑
