Sen. Tim Scott appears determined to take himself out of the running to be Donald Trump’s vice-presidential pick.
In an interview on CNN’s State of the Union with host Jon Karl, Scott said he stood by his decision to certify the 2020 presidential election, despite widespread evidence of voter fraud that tipped the election in Biden’s favor.
Here is a transcript of the exchange:
JON KARL: OK. Senator, the day before that violent mob attacked the Capitol, you put out a statement explaining your decision to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.
Do you stand by that? You were not one of those that challenged the results. You voted to certify Biden’s election victory. Do you stand by that?
SCOTT: Certainly. I will stand by that decision
...... Snip.......
KARL: All right, and very quickly, we’re just about out of time, but you had said that Mike Pence absolutely did the right thing when he defied Donald Trump’s demand to — to not certify that election. Do you still stand by that, that Pence absolutely did the right thing on January 6th?
SCOTT: The Constitution is clear. What we’re trying to focus on is how do we make sure we get four more years where the American people, particularly kids like me, growing up in poverty, have the best future we could possibly have.

Tim would make an excellent VP for Mike Pence.
If he understood the Bible, he would understand that ministering lifts more people up.than socialism.
Is that a smoking hole in his foot?
I guess Vance is now the leader for VEEP.
He’s done. Next applicant...
Trump must not pick a senator. Learn from your mistakes, Don!
Never liked him he’s too smooth, too slick.
I keep saying that Republicans don't know how to manage the ambush "gotcha" questions.
And notice how Karl waited until the end of the segment to spring it on Scott, leaving him no time for in-depth answers?
Scott should have said:
Look, Jon. It's been four years now. I'm not going to relitigate the past. What's done is done. Congress investigated January 6, the DoJ is investigating January 6... I'm focusing on 2024 and I think you should be, too, instead of trying to create disunity in the Republican party by continuing to bring this up over and over and over.-PJ
Just one more piece of evidence that Scott would be a terrible choice. He’s a garden variety RINO. NOT SCOTT!
It easier to agree with another in the absence of determination & conviction.
He’s right - the Constitution is clear.
It’s amazing that a majority of FR would have preferred Pence to ignore the Constitution and gone rogue when the same people would violently oppose the other side doing the same thing.
The problem isn’t Pence and never was. The problem is the framers of the constitution never anticipate widespread vote fraud and cheating.
If the state legislators would not do their jobs and at the very minimum, send alternate slate of electors, what do you expect Pence to do?
I dont agree with Pence on a lot of things but I can’t blame him if the state legislators did have the backbone.
Welcome to Niki Haleyville you dumb SOB.
Pence could have delayed the certification until the irregularities were looked into.
CNN will keep asking the J6 question to divide Republicans from Trump. That’s the whole point. Scott doesn’t have to apologize for his actions around J6 to be a great VP. Hopefully the full truth about the stolen election will eventually come out.
Certification implies certainly.
There is no logical basis for certainty.
Tim Scott is Benedict Pence in blackface.
Get out the vote. The Dems are good at it. Republicans...not so much.
