Multiple regions across the US declared a state of emergency in preparation for the solar eclipse that will transverse the continental US on April 8. While Monday’s eclipse will be at least partially visible throughout all 48 contiguous states, officials are concerned that tourists will flood areas where the totality can be viewed. The path of totality-where the moon completely blocks the face of the sun – begins in Texas and heads in a narrow band up toward the Northeast, stretching across portions of 13 US states and parts of Canada and Mexico.
There will not be another visible total solar eclipse in the contiguous U.S. for another two decades, until 2044, according to NASA.
Many of the regions are expecting record numbers of visitors on the day of the eclipse.
In New York, Officials in Essex County declared a state of emergency Wednesday to run from April 6-10, according to NBC affiliate WPTZ. Oswego County, New York made a similar announcement, according to WSYR.
Officials in Kaufman, Bell, Kerr, Coryell, Gatesville, and Travis counties in Texas announced that a state of emergency will begin on April 5 and go through April 9.
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb issued a state of emergency declaration on March 26, effective until 11:59 p.m. on April 9
The panic has even spread to Canada. Ontario’s Niagara Region has declared a preemptive state of emergency.
Generally, a state of emergency gives the government the authority to do whatever is necessary for the safety of people and the protection of property. Typical actions can include restricting movements, shutting down traffic routes, suspending regulations to expedite response, and creating new emergency legal sanctions.

What does the vax have to do with this thread ?

I live in the path of totality. There are lots of people here this weekend and a big festival is going on with bands, food, vendor booths, etc. We stopped by for a while this afternoon. Everyone seems to be of good cheer and it’s quite festive. It hasn’t gotten crazy, but I imagine more will be arriving tomorrow. So far, so good, though. Hoping it stays that way.
It was 1979. I remember because I was in school in Victoria and missed it at home not so far from Goldendale.
Stay safe up there; I saw my fair share of pearl-clutchers in your town the last time I was up thataway. Might be a fire sale on moonbats at the local WallyWorld.
Goldendale? Isn’t that where they have a replica of Stonehenge set up? That would be pretty cool to be there during an eclipse. Not that the two are related - but just cool.
Millions of people leaving their homes.
Great time for illegals to move into them and claim squatter’s rights.
WEF is missing a big opportunity here.

There was a solar eclipse in July 1991 and as I remember there was never this level of hysteria.

Several of those who are vaxed have issues with their health and are doing things ‘while they are able’....and they are not that old.

Maybe a little sarcastic....
I actually have a different view of heavenly signs. I am in awe of God and get to watch divine sunrises and sunsets each day. There are many prophetic proclamations about this and the 2017 eclipse. Personally, I believe there will be many at the huge gatherings that don’t have Christ as their Lord and Savior who will have their eyes opened at who He is, repent of their sins and there will be a revival like we have not seen. I am ready for evil to meet its divine match and return to Biblical morals and ethics that made us a great country.
You might still think this is unhealthy. So be it!
I remember my first solar eclipse. (grammar school, late 50s)
We were warned at school not to look directly at the eclipse, but to construct a device, a paper plate, making a pinhole in the center and hold it up toward the eclipse and view it that way.
Being a nonconformist I said F that and just looked at it for a few seconds with my two eyes. I SURVIVED! I didn’t turn into a pillar of salt nor go blind.
NOT recommending this, just sayin’.
The total solar eclipse will be visible along a narrow track stretching from Texas to Maine on April 8, 2024.
A partial eclipse will be visible throughout all 48 contiguous U.S. states.

This visualization closely follows the Moon's umbra shadow as it crosses North America during the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse.
It covers the one hour and 50 minutes between 10:57 a.m. Pacific Standard Time and 4:47 p.m. Atlantic Daylight Time.
Annotations include a running clock and the location of the center of the shadow.
Everyone within the dark oval sees totality.
You are right. I’m old.
It was a fun experience though, so I don’t have another one on my bucket list.
I think God is front and center. But not in a wacky way. I actually believe he is a serious creator. I think he’d be sick at some of the outlandish behavior in the name of him.
Me neither. I drove a few hundred miles into the totality zone and a few hundred miles out afterward. Traffic was heavy but I didn't see any mass death, earthquakes, volcanoes, or flaming skulls flying around. I was kinda looking forward to the flying skulls part, too.
Those were saner times. We had a saner President. Men couldn't get pregnant and nobody gave a damn about anybody's pronouns. It wasn't that long ago. And contrary to the crap the MSM are pushing, unlimited criminal invasion and subsidized genital mutilation aren't the New Normal, they're a horrible aberration and need to be seen as such by saner people.
In honor of the overhyped Eclipse I have scheduled my Nap at the time of the event so I can totally avoid it. I saw a partial Eclipse when I was 9 in 1964 so I’m good on this.
