Let’s say you’re talking to somebody you don’t know very well, or somebody you know so well that you’ve run out of things to say. Where does the discussion usually go?
That’s right: the weather! It’s a safe topic because everybody experiences it, it’s different from one day to the next, and it’s pretty easy to agree on it.
“Nice day, huh?” “Yep.”
“Hot enough for ya?” “You can say that again!”
“Weatherman said rain tomorrow.” “Well, you know how often he gets it right.”
Etc.
But did you know that talking about the weather can actually help save the planet? Get thee to a climate cafe!
Lola Fadulu and Emily Schmall, NYT:
In a small room in Lower Manhattan, a group of eight New Yorkers sat in a circle sharing kombucha and their climate fears against the background of pattering rain and wailing sirens.
In Champaign, Ill., a psychotherapist facilitating a meeting for other therapists held up a branch of goldenrod, asking the half-dozen participants online to consider their connection to nature.
And in Kansas City, Mo., a nonprofit that runs a weekly discussion on Zoom began its session with a spiritual reading and a guided meditation before breaking into groups to discuss topics like the ethics of childbearing amid a fast-rising global population and concerns of resource scarcity.

Climate/weather Mental Disorder
“Feelings about the weather”?
Do they mean like:
“Boo hood it’s raining, I feel so depressed”?
The “weather” doesn’t bother me one iota. Nor does the state of the climate or the scant amount of co2 in the atmosphere (which calculates out to man’s contribution of specifically co2 only, is just 0.00136% of the atmosphere- nope, not one bit worried about something so small that can not possibly affect the climate one tiny little bit)
No, but it can empty the pockets of idiots.
Meanwhile, the US is falling below replacement rate on child births and third-world countries (where nobody joins Zoom sessions with spiritual readings and a guided meditations) are at 2X or 3X replacement rate.
Whites of European ancestry are breeding themselves out of existence. When they are all gone, there will be nobody left to join the Zoom Sessions, spiritual readings, and guided meditations.
So there are Joe Biden Cafes coming soon?
Not a warm and fuzzy feeling....freezing my butt off here in Upstate NY
Enjoy that cup of coffee with the beans floating in cold water.
These dunderheads are destroying the planet while whinging about the planet being destroyed.
They're no better than the likes of Al Gore jetting about the planet telling us to live more simply.
Nope.
In the entire world fertility is falling.
Something has gone badly wrong.
Don't take my word for it. Look up the world wide fertility statistics since 1950. They have dropped off a cliff.
I would go and complain loudly that it’s too hot in here and to turn up the air conditioner.
The stupid is everywhere now.
Dropped off a cliff in Europe after WW I and WW II. Fatalism, ennui, and loss of two generations of men did it.
It has fallen FAR FAR faster in Western Europe and now the USA than developing parts of the world.
Sessions of the Climate Warming Cult!
This is a good thing. It collects all the brain-dead NPc’s in one place where they can get hugs and comfort each other. Now, lock the doors.
We’re in a sad state of affairs if people need psychotherapy for anxiety over weather.
Did you watch that climate movie there was a thread on the other day?
I already believed that the climate crisis stuff is one big scam, but this reinforced it completely.
Somehow, this keeps working. It keeps everybody in a perpetual state of crisis, which keeps Al Gore’s wallet as fat as he is.
The late Michael Crichton covered this well in State of Fear.
I can usually predict weather changes because my hip starts aching.
