President Trump could not sign the optional Illinois Loyalty Oath because the form required him to also state under penalty of perjury that he was a resident of Illinois.
Trump is a Florida resident.
Biden signed it, but substituted “State of Delaware”.
What is this in reference to?
“Illinois Loyalty”
We’re loyal to you, Illinois,
We’re Orange and Blue, Illinois;
We’ll back you to stand
‘Gainst the best in the land,
For we know you have sand, Illinois,
Rah! Rah!
So crack out that ball, Illinois,
We’re backing you all, Illinois,
Our team is our fame−protector,
On! boys, for we expect a
Victory from you, Illinois.
Che-he, Che−ha, Che−ha−ha−ha! Che−he, Che−ha, Che−ha−ha−ha!
Illinois! Illinois! Illinois!
I wouldn’t sign it either.
Mainstream media attacking President Trump for not signing the Illinois candidate’s Loyalty Oath. The press are trying to link the oath to January 6th.
“optional”
That’s the functional word here. I’m not loyal to Illinois either.
I wouldn’t sign it even I still lived in that craphole.
The courts have held that this particular oath requirement is unconstitutional. The decision was issued more than fifty years ago.
Don’t play their stupid games.
Its just letting Democrats set the MSM narrative.
Reject them. Call them idiots in public, and be done with it.
Just another scam
Illinois is a sick [Ill] State.
Against my better judgement, I did buy 20 gal. [and therefore pay the State Gas Tax] Sunday.
Usually I bring Pure gas in some 5 gal jugs to install before the transit below Lake Michigan.
I apologize for helping to fund the Ill State.
be tied to the biggest baddest anti gun fanatics would be onsane.
Biden Losing it, Dropping in Polls, Now he Wants Trump to Sign a Loyalty Oath That Claims he’s a Resident of Illinois

WTF?
Sort of like the RNC “pledge” that Chris Christie agreed to then tossed away when inconvenient.
This is something from the Cold War era and a few years back a Democrat state rep tried to get it abolished but wasn’t successful. It seems to me this was designed for people running for Illinois offices, otherwise why mention Illinois residency? Ironically, there are officials in Illinois who are open Marxists, so I guess they lied if they signed this.
I ran into another article behind a paywall that said the U.S. Supreme court ruled that such oaths are unconstitutional, but I wasn’t able to read far enough to find out when and why this was decided.
I don’t sign any govt form/piece of paper I don’t absolutely have to.
Trump signed the loyalty oath in 2016 and 2020. In 2016 he crossed out “and the State of Illinois” on the form, but weirdly in 2020 he just left that in.
What reason did he give for not signing it?
