The Michigan Wolverines were seemingly pulling hard for Florida State to get into the playoff.
The 13-0 Seminoles were left out in favor of 12-1 Alabama. The Crimson Tide will meet the Wolverines in the first round. Michigan is currently a -1.5 favorite on DraftKings. It should be a great game.
However, Michigan wasn’t happy about it. The team’s reaction to learning Alabama – not Florida State – is the four seed was muted at best and downright not happy at worst.
There was some very light clapping after stunned silence and great disappointment.
Those two videos really say it all. The Wolverines wanted to face the Seminoles with a backup quarterback.

1. What team would you least want to play in the CFP Semi?
2. What team would you most like to play in the CFP Final?
I would contend that Bama would be the most likely answer to both questions.
There has been talk of the Wolverines being scared to face the Tide, that's crazy IMHO, if you're the best you want to beat the best. But as noted in this post Michigan hoped to get a weakened FSU in the 1st round, not a peaking Bama.
I just don’t get Bama’s selection. They lost to Texas.
That alone should disqualify them from the playoff.
I admit that Alabama has some serious chops as they showed against Georgia but still...
Michigan should welcome the opportunity, and be joyful.
Either prepare your team, take the field with the attitude that no one can beat you, or take up knitting.
Well duh. Michigan would easily shred Florida State. Alabama is a much more serious opponent. Think Michigan still wins but it will be a lot closer.
/a football nut — and a Buckeye
Only if “Bama’s defensive shows up like they did last week against UGA. The offense needs to find a rhythm. I think ‘Bama will beat Michigan, but I think they’ll be playing Washington for the Natty, not Texas... RTR!!!
There is a very easy explanation. ESPN has a financial interest in the SEC. So Alabama is in because ESPN makes money. st in
ROTFLMAO!
“I just don’t get Bama’s selection. They lost to Texas.
It’s really simple, the ‘committee’ wanted an SEC team, there are many reasons. Mostly though better TV revenue in the future and especially the sport’s MSM along with the associated schools/coaches went on about it for weeks. We will never know if FS is better than Alabama but as a diehard Wolverine fan for decades they are looking to play the best and Alabama isn’t it.
I don’t get all the whining and crying from fsu.
They got into the national title game over undefeated West Virginia AND over 1 loss Notre Dame after Notre Dame beat them head to head in 1993.
They got into the national title game ahead of 1 loss miami when miami beat them head to head in 2000.
In each case, the voters put them in over those other teams because of the eye test. They simply thought fsu the better team. So now the eye test doesn’t work in their favor for once and they wail and moan about what an injustice it is? They thought it was just fine when it worked in their favor.

I seem to recall reading a similar post last year at this time. How did that work out for the Wolverines?
Michigan should be playing Florida State.
Why they have to actually play the game. Lol
Remember the 1997 Sugar Bowl where unbeaten FSU had a rematch against the 1 loss Gators, the Seminoles were decimated 52-20.
Florida State got robbed, but as this is the last year of the 4-team format, there are no precedents to worry about re: denying an undefeated team.
With this written, GA is a 2-TD favorite over FSU. TWO TOUCHDOWNS. Of course, MI would have liked to play FSU.
I write this as a Buckeye fan.
ESPN’s fake tournament.
The "top" of the SEC has been the best for decades, not so much the B1(OSU)G
...Ohio State did it in 2014, and in SEC country(Sugar Bowl-New Orleans)
...while you get 'bama away from "home"(Rose Bowl).
So stop the excuses(for Michigan that's been explaining how you've been stinking up bowl games since the 1970's)...and just win baby!
If you can't, then you'll just continue to be this "mythical" storied program...that hasn't really won anything (nationally) since leather helmets.
That's setting aside the potential cheating scandal asterisk, which (myself) view as big nothing burger...compared to what's become (big $$$ casino) referee/other game-fixing, etc....slowly turning ALL sports into professional wrestling "entertainment" to maximize audience/ad-revenue.
I write this as a (state of) Michigan sports fan.
Anyone see how Ohio State is, like, 2-10 in bowl games versus SEC opponents? There’s a reason they are considered the best conference.
