Ben Shapiro Invites Candace Owens to Quit (and Now Tucker Carlson is Involved)
Hot Air ^ | 16 November 2023 | JOHN SEXTON

There’s some real anger spilling over at the Daily Wire this week but I think it’s fair to say this has been building up for a while now. Ben Shapiro, the co-founder of the Daily Wire, has obviously been one of the most outspoken defenders on Israel online. Candace Owens works there as one of their most prominent voices but she’s taken a very different view. For instance, she has argued that the charge of anti-Semitism has been “weaponized” to silence people.

I’d agree with Owens - and I’m typically not a fan of hers. Shapiro is a Bush/Cheney/Romney/McCain/Crenshaw republican and no friend to real conservatives.

1st - You are again using words that you intend to mean one thing but which actually mean something else.

justify - “show or prove to be right or reasonable”

If I were to say...”That guy shouldn’t have climbed into the bear cage at the zoo. That is why he is dead today.”...I am not “justifying” the bear attack. I am pointing out the cause of it happening.

It is never “justified” to kill innocent people. It is never “right or reasonable” to kill innocent people.

Not the ones in Israel. Not the ones in Gaza.

2nd - All of the arguments you are making could be made right back at you....

“Israel is killing innocent civilians in Gaza. If you put up posters in NEW YORK CITY of Hamas victims you are trying to drum up US support for the attacks on innocent children in Gaza and you are responsible for genocide.”

“Blacks perform worse on standardized testing. If you support the use of standardized testing then you are racist against blacks.”

Do you see how that works? You sound like a liberal.

Hyper-sensitive people don’t get to construe the meaning of anything they hear to fit their particular grievance complex.

I’m sure in the details that we would disagree. Her position is along the lines of defend yourselves or perish. Israel would not survive under those conditions.

<< “No government anywhere has a right to commit a genocide, ever.” - Candace Owens.>>

Undoubtedly this is what got under Ben’s skin more than anything else Candace said, and for good reason. Even though she didn’t mention Israel specifically, given the context it’s quite clear who she was referring to. And she couldn’t be more wrong — what’s happening in Gaza isn’t even close to genocide.

I don’t believe that Candace is pro-Hamas like the woke Left is, but it’s clear she has a strong anti-Israel bias. Same with Tucker.

Owens’ interview with Bill Maher about the moon landing “hoax” was hilarious. Owens was too lazy to have done ANY research...

Correct. If it was, there'd be at LEAST 10x the Gazan fatalities by now. Probably a lot more.

What would Mohamed do? Well, what did he do? He beheaded 350 Jews (infidels). That, in a nutshell, is Islam. Gazans are among the worst.

About the only Americans who are “antisemitic” (as in anti-Jewish) are Muslim Americans. I’m sick and tired of charges of antisemitism directed towards non-Muslim Americans.

Treating Islam and Judaism equivalently is suicidal.

It’s not a perfect parallel, but the retaking of Mosul is an interesting study. This is a higher number than most estimates, but Kurdish intel believes 40,000 were killed; many of those residents were killed by ISIL as said residents tried to get out. Many ended up buried in the rubble.

In any event, the casualties are no surprise and certainly not indicative of “genocide” on Israel’s part. Mosul, Fallujah, Marawi, now Gaza... The general pattern is pretty clear. :-(

Bottom line war is always hell. I fully expect we will find out sooner rather than later. That’s why we will not give up our weapons, period.

No. Owens knows next to nothing about Israel and Hamas, and sounds like her ignorant nitwit leftists allies on this. When called out she claims to be a victim of the charge of antisemitism like the communists and Hamas supporters do. And then she hides under a quote in the New Testament hoping that a Jew wont call out her BS. She always plays the victim card here.

Protoneocons like Shapiro misstep a lot
Protoneocons would have been liberal opponents of the New Deal.

Israel isn’t killing 2 million Arabs in Gaza. Americans were fine with far worse bombing in World War 2.

I would argue they are likely the worlds least likely to do so baring a cataclysm mass destruction attack directed at them

Given they know how it feels to be in the receiving end

And have western sensibilities

And the IDF actually espouse a purity of arms doctrine publicly

Ben
Levin
VDH
glen beck

All pretty bright especially the first three

They see the problem here especially demographics is destiny (boy howdy that applies to Israel in spades ) but they refuse to name it or replacement theory

They cling to polyglot unity theory which can miraculously work here to them

And they mold their historical facts especially about my region to support that which always irritates me as intellectually dishonest

When I know smart as they are they know their history better

If not they should read A Disease in the Public Mind which has uncanny relation to today

Shapiro is crackerjack bright

VDH erudite as hell I like to hear him wax

He did an encapsulation of the Biden era two days ago on his pods which was good

Very few talkies who really get it honestly

But we need all we can our side so I tolerate them

Pelham and I are Gottfried fans but even he goes off reservation too

Shapiro disdain for Trump borders on clinical

Boring his partner seems to be of the same work

Only Michael Knowles in their stable is unabashedly pro Trump

I’m not sure how to tell a protoneocon from a garden variety neocon but it’s an interesting idea.

I do agree that Victor Davis Hanson, Mark Levin and Ben Shapiro share most of neoconservatisms basic beliefs. But then I suspect that most Republicans today do. Meaning that they what they say would be indistinguishable from Cold Warrior liberal Democrats or Rockefeller Republicans.

Usually the tell for those of us interested in such ancient history is Liberal Internationalism in foreign policy, and gushing praise for the Civil Rights Act. Today’s conservatives would be outraged to learn that Ronald Reagan, Bill Buckley and Barry Goldwater all opposed the CRA. And then they’d wonder how we ended up with a Woke Big Brother government openly hostile to evil white male America.

“Americans were fine with far worse bombing in World War 2.”

People rarely pay attention to history unless it somehow involves themselves.

Dresden firebombing... 25,000 to 135,000 civilians killed depending on who does the counting.

Tokyo firebombing... 80,000 to 130,000 killed.

Hiroshima, 70,000 to 126,000 killed.

Nagasaki 60,000 to 80,000 killed.

Civil War historian James McPherson, no apologist for the CSA, estimates 50,000 Southern civilian deaths in the American Civil War.

When I said far worse, I mean far worse. Even if you accept the Hamas numbers, we are looking at 22,000 dead in 88 days. That’s 250 a day. Israel claims 8000 Hamas members killed. We don’t know how man of the 14000 remainder were members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Fatah, and civilian participants in October 7th holding hostages. We could be in a sitiation where 10,000 Palestinian combattants or members of terrorist groups have died and 12,000 civilians have died. That’s not genocide. It is terrible. On October 7th, I mourned the Israeli dead and wept for the innocent Palestinians civilians, who would die in the response, due to Hamas using them as human shields. Sadly I failed to account for the role that Egypt and the UN would take in maximizing the number of dead Arabs and blaming Israel.
