Deion Sanders delivers hard truth about American society
The Comeback ^ | Sep 18, 2023 | DJ Byrnes

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders is one of the hottest coaches in football at the moment. The Buffaloes are currently 3-0 and ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press poll with a huge game at Oregon coming this weekend.

But it wasn’t always clear that Sanders was headed for success in Boulder. He took plenty of criticism from posting his first meeting with his team. In no uncertain terms, he told the team that he was bringing his “Louis Vitton luggage” with him from Jackson and any player that didn’t like it should hit the portal.

Over 40 players took up Sanders on that offer. But so far, Sanders’ tough love has paid dividends for a program that won one game in the season prior to his arrival.

Sanders didn’t apologize for his method of operation in a recent interview with 60 Minutes.

“I think truth is good for the kids. We’re so busy lying we don’t even recognize the truth no more in society. We want everybody to feel good. That’s not the way life is,” he said, according to Fox News. “Now, it is my job to make sure I have what we need to win. That makes a lot of people feel good – winning does.”

Sanders said anyone who let words run them off wasn’t fit for his program anyway.

“If you went for that, if you were able to let words run you off, you ain’t for us because we’re an old-school staff. We coach hard. We coach tough. We’re disciplined. If you’re allowing verbiage to run you off because you don’t feel secure with your ability – you ain’t for us,” he said.

So far, it’s hard to argue with the results.

“I’m waiting for him to come out of the closet as a republican. “

*************

Would today’s timid Republican Party embrace a tough talking messenger like Deion? I kind of doubt it. That would unnerve most of the party members who are uncomfortable with speaking certain truths.

I listened to him. I couldn’t find much to disagree with.

Neon Deion is flashy. I’m not much into his pimp-like looks, but he sure does have a lot of energy, and I like that part. He has turned around a lethargic team in short order. In other words, he has motivated these kids. That was some kinda smash-mouth football the other night. I wanted to watch every second, but I was just too darn tired to see it through to the double overtime win. I have nothing against CSU. They played great despite their outrageous number of penalties. College rivalry football is often the most fun to watch. That was a good one!

Most likely school policy. She had to inform the parent that there was an incident. Better than hearing about from your child. They are probably concerned about lawsuits.

Sanders is one of the trickle of people who are getting sick of the WokeStupid and are saying something. Amazing how far into crazy world we get before we start to see this.

What does this even mean? He’s bringing his Louis Vitton luggage with him?

In the context of the statement, he was talking about bringing players, described as luggage. Louis (as in Louis Vuitton) is considered to be among the best out there.

In his speech to the existing players, he made it clear that some positions are filled based on folks transferring in, so they're free to leave if they don't want to play in his system.

According to his son, Lorenzo, Fernando Lamas enjoyed Crystal’s impersonation of him.

I’d like to know what “hit the portal” means.

This author is weird.

I’m a big fan. He’s 73 years old, and did six months on Broadway last year. Been married to his high school sweetheart for over 50 years.

It's the first thing I thought of when I read about Sanders' comment.

I didn't think that people would recall the origin of that phrase.

It's how college athletes look for transfers between schools.
