Pro-woke professors leave Florida universities in protest

University professors in Florida are leaving in droves, and blaming the state’s fight against woke policies.

The Tampa Bay Times reported on a July meeting of the Florida Board of Governors. During the meeting, a number of professors expressed concern about the political climate in Florida. Professors and administrators said they were having difficulty hiring and retaining new teachers, in part because of Florida lawmakers dismantling CRT, DEI, and other planks of the leftist agenda from higher education.

Florida State University music professor Matthew Lata, told the Florida Board of Governors that new hires have rejected offers “because of the perceived anti-higher education atmosphere in the state.”

“More and more often we are hearing ‘Florida? Not Florida. Not now. Not yet,’” he reportedly said.

One employee at University of Florida reportedly said that a half dozen candidates who toured the campus “expressed mixed feelings about moving to Florida in the current political climate.” A candidate who applied to the philosophy department at the University of South Florida reportedly took a job at a lower-ranked school in another state over political concerns.

Being a prof is a cushy job. I doubt any are leaving unless they’ve already secured another cushy job as a prof or with an NGO.

And the benefit to that will be an education for the students rather than an indoctrination to leftist ideals

Especially the real Hispanics of Florida...they hate both of these terms ending in “x”, and have even protested against their use (which was imposed by the trans loonies, since Spanish reflects the sex of the noun in the adjectives).

So they will be happy to see these hideous, destructive nutty professors leave.

I see they got rid of a black racist just the other day. Go DeSantis! He has a lot of support among the normals, whether white, black or Hispanic or even some of our more exotic immigrant groups, because he just wants us all to be Americans.

LOL...so the shutdown of "CRT, DEI, and other planks of the leftist agenda in higher education" is working as intended. Great news!!

Goodbye, useless "professors."

It is just stupid for these useless leftist "professors" to think that killing CRT, DEI and the whole panoply of communist agitprop creates an "anti-higher education atmosphere." Nothing prevents them from concentrating on teaching their subjects.

As usual, the most educated are the most stupid (at least in useless subjects).

Maybe the loss of "professors" will cause entire useless departments to be shut down and the money redirected to solid subjects.

I now we didn’t like him as a Senator, but I am thrilled with Ben Sasse as UF President.

Florida is wiping until its bottom is clean. The job isn’t complete until the paper work is done.

Later! Don’t let the doorknob hit you!

If it is a choice between woke or no professors, I’ll choose no professors. You can’t have worthless “studies” degrees without woke. I hope Florida universities have to downsize and eliminate many degree programs. People should study fiction within the confines of literature course, not entire degrees program based on fiction.

"More and more often we are hearing ‘Florida? Not Florida. Not now. Not yet,” he reportedly said."

No one considering a jerb in a Florida university ever said "Not yet."
