The Texas State House voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton, effectively suspending him from legal authority within the state until an impeachment trial can be held in the State Senate. There are 20 articles of impeachment [READ HERE]. The vote to adopt the 20 articles of impeachment was 121-23, with most of the Texas state republicans voting in alignment with the Texas democrats.
People are shocked when I share the opinion that Texas is not near the top of the Republican states considered deep red “conservative” or freedom/values based. Of the mostly visible 30 states you might consider ‘conservative’ or ‘freedom balanced’, Texas wouldn’t appear in the top five; today’s vote in the Texas state house is just another datapoint in that direction.
TEXAS – In a history-making late-afternoon vote, a divided Texas House chose Saturday to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton, temporarily removing him from office over allegations of misconduct that included bribery and abuse of office.
The vote to adopt the 20 articles of impeachment was 121-23, with three members absent.
Attention next shifts to the Texas Senate, which will conduct a trial with senators acting as jurors and designated House members presenting their case as impeachment managers. Permanently removing Paxton from office and barring him from holding future elected office in Texas would require the support of two-thirds of senators. (read more)
The Texas Republicans who voted to remove the conservative AG, are the typical Texas RINO, Bush and DeSantis support group. Understanding the dynamic, President Trump has promised to fight the Texas Republicans as they attack Ken Paxton.
Attorney General Ken Paxton released the following statement:
This as from what I read a Republican-led and voted effort. I always thought headlines favored Paxton, but from reading several articles, doesn't sound like he kept his dealings above reproach. This was a decisive vote.
Bushies still own the Texas GOP.
I get that Paxton is a solid conservative. But I wish a Texas Freeper or two would weigh in on the validity of the charges.
Is this a witch-hunt, or did Paxton really play fast-and-loose at times?
Lots of Black Pots amongst those Republicans.
Years ago, under Governor Perry (a former Democrat, by the way) the Texas Republicans rubber-stamped a plan to turn Texas freeways into privately-run Toll Roads (along with building a bunch of new toll roads). It took 5+ years, but people here eventually noticed the plan, and revolted.
That the plan got through without any debate told me all that I needed to know about the Texas GOP.
Texas Rejected Use of Dominion Voting System Software Due to Efficiency Issues
Evaluations show Texas officials had concerns about Dominion Voting Systems product’s efficiency and reliability when
they rejected their use in January of this year.

I watched paxtons 3 hour vid detailing the dangers of dominion.
Diagrams and illustrations from dominions own manuals were an eye opener.
He handed them their as$.
Maybe, but look at the count. I read a few articles about all this yesterday and it seemed that everyone was in agreement about the substance of the charges, the only disagreement was process related. Maybe inconvenient, but it appears Paxton was a bit less than above reproach.
It appears that TX is turning Blue.
From my reading, I think he was dirty, sloppy, and got caught.
“From my reading, I think he was dirty, sloppy, and got caught.”
And ours always need removing. Not the other side’s.
Perhaps taking time to review the situation before making a knee jerk response? If this was a Dem attack on Paxton with just a few Republicans joining, that would be one thing, but with a bipartisan supermajority voting to impeach, it seems like a little time to evaluate the legitimacy of the charges is warranted before taking a position.
Texas Democrats in the urban areas of Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and El Paso voted in lockstep to impeach Ken Paxton, had Democrats not cast votes, the vote count would have been far more favorable to Paxton.
The stupid RINOs spend too much time in Fag Town. (Austin). Soon, they become turd rollers too. Funny you don’t see the Dung Beetle Party impeaching their boy, Garland.
He played fast and loose at times. But no more than most democrats.
One of the accusations that is not part of the impeachment vote is that he cheated on his wife.
What makes this an issue is that his wife is a state senator. And therefore she gets to vote on confirming the impeachment when it gets to the Senate.
“But I wish a Texas Freeper or two would weigh in on the validity of the charges.
Is this a witch-hunt, or did Paxton really play fast-and-loose at times?”
Ken Paxton does not just fight for Texas Conservatives but for conservatives and President Trump in every corner of this nation. From protecting Life, to protecting the integrity of Republican votes, Ken Paxton is leading the fight and fighting for you.
My advice stay as far away from it as possible.
Before I got anywhere near this situation, I would 100% want to know what the charges are an is there validity to them.
I would doubt very few if any people here on FR knows how valid the charges are, stay away from getting involved if you don’t investigate the charges thoroughly.
Republicans overwhelmingly voted to impeach the guy, keep trashing them and see what happens to your support in Texas, regardless of what anyone thinks, the State Representatives were elected by the people of Texas, if they think it’s a scam, they will pay for it at the polls.
Isn’t that what Democrats are supposed to do ??
If the situation was reversed, I know I would want Republicans to vote to impeach a Democrat in a similar situation.
I have no idea or not if the charges are valid, if they are I would want the guy gone or would you prefer to keep a convicted crook in office.
