Fast food chain Burger King is set to close up to 400 locations across the country this year, with the under-performing ones being the first to go.
According to the Daily Mail, Burger King CEO Joshua Kobza confirmed the closures after the company announced its results for the first quarter of 2023. The earnings release noted that from the start of the year until March, Burger King closed 124 locations – leaving 6,964 restaurants still operating. This is a historic high, said Kobza, as the fast food chain usually closes a couple of hundred stores annually.
However, the CEO clarified that not all of the 300 to 400 locations set to close this year have been revealed. He also admitted that there is “a fair degree of uncertainty” around the plans. Sales performance can vary greatly between Burger King locations; one poorly-performing location could see things turn out in its favor the next month.
The company is seeking additional franchisees with stronger finances this year, according to Burger King Chairman Patrick Doyle. He also hinted at the possibility of under-performing franchisees being axed.

Eeeeeewwwwwwww!! 🤢
BK’s shakes always worst ever.
Quit going to burger king when their manger pushed the mask mandate.
Yup, true ewwww, faithfully reported without exaggeration.
The local Burger King hires idiots. They’re friendly and seem like decent people but you can’t rely on them to get an order right.
Yuppers...
Mickey D -—2 McGriddles -—5 bucks
Wendy’s-——Biggie Bag-——6 bucks
Taco Bell——2 tacos+bean Buro—6 bucks

Agreed. Charcoal on bread. Burger King is the absolute bottom of the barrel of fast food in my opinion. McDonald’s tastes like the paper bag it’s served in but even that’s better than eating a charcoal briquette on a bun.
And don’t even get me started on the price. No way should burger flippers make $15 an hour. No way in hell. I can’t wait for burger production to automate so I can get a burger again (I’m a Wendy’s and Whataburger guy) without taking out a damn bank loan
The food there is lousy.
Took myself and 3 grandkids to BK recently and it cost $37 and it all fit on one tray. It really wasn’t that much food. I figured $20 max.
The last Burger King I went to was in Portland, OR about 10 years ago. As we were driving up to the drive-thru window, as G-d is my witness, the biggest rat I ever saw strolled across the driveway.
An old friend of mine used to insist that Burger Chef was the best of the burger joints. They were so few and far between, though, that we had to go out of our way to find one. The last one closed in 1996.
The BEST :
Double-Double No Onions——5 Bucks+
.
A+W has “Dad burger Fries and large RootBeer” north of 12 bucks but it’s
So Dang Good!
I went to Burger Chef a lot as a kid. Still remember how the mustard tasted, that was at least 50 years ago.
We have a BK and a Mickey D’s down the street from me, and a Sonic. In the midst of all those places they are building a Whataburger and I wonder how that will impact the local market here. In fact they are building it right next door to the BK.
It will not surprise me if the BK here might shut down, that is a lot of Fast Food competition where I live.
I stopped goinf to BK when they became woke. I actually love whoppers but simply will not buy from a woke company.
“I almost lived on Burger King in college, so I would eat at one a couple times a year just to reminisce.”
I lived on McDonalds. Had a cheeseburger today. First in about a decade. Enjoyed and reminisced.
Looking forward to my next in 2033!
We stopped getting food there after their advertising jab against ChickfilA.
A local burger joint here, they are actually branching out…

They’re not bad.
I don’t know anything about their business, but they just might pick up business in other parts of the country.
