A retired U.S Navy commander who serves on the Naval Academy’s Alumni Association Board of Trustees defended the Navy enlisting a drag queen influencer to appeal to recruits.
According to a report by Fox News Digital, Commander (Ret.) Julianna Vida said the Navy using Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley as a Navy Digital Ambassadors (NDAs) is a “critical” method of welcoming “traditionally excluded segments of our population.”
Kelley is an active-duty enlisted sailor and a drag queen who goes by the stage name “Harpy Daniels,” and says he has performed on ships during deployments for fellow sailors.
Visa said using Kelley to recruit sailors should be “applauded and supported,” and slammed Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) for criticizing the move.
Tuberville recently wrote in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that China is focusing on building its military, while the Pentagon is focused on “woke identity politics.”

sorry my applause go elsewhere
Well, there’s yer problem....
It’s not appropriate, Commander.
We are living in a nightmare that keeps getting worse. I saw a video of an old Marine (WWII) in uniform in his wheelchair weeping that what the US has turned into isn’t what his fellow Marines sacrificed their lives for almost 80 years ago. The evil that grips the US is palpable and appears in all institutions. We are in for a helluva fight.
Well, I’m friends with a retired Commander who has a completely different opinion. Where’s the article about him?
She retired as ONLY a Commander ? That says a lot ...
OMG I need Bleach asap to clean my eyes. Is there goal to make the rest of the world Die Laughing instead of us Killing them in a war??
Probably has a butt buddy himself.
Might have been Reserve...................
Oops....female. My bad.
as we know from Monty Python joke warfare was outlawed by the Geneva convention
Not my Navy.
As a USN veteran I can confirm that this insanity makes me want to throw up.
I looked at her LinkedIn Page - 27 years and 7 months in the Navy (no mention of reserves). She was a bench warmer.
I don’t know about commanders. But the retired navy captains and army colonels I served under in the working world have universally been political animals who say whatever they think is going to reflect well on themselves. (The descriptive term I was searching for is sort of sphincter related.)
Commander (Ret.) Julianna Vida,,,is a disgrace.
Leave me out of it.
