Speaking at a Club 45 rally in Palm Beach, Florida on George Washington’s Birthday, President Donald Trump explained what he would do to put an end to the war in Ukraine if he were reelected: “I would literally start calling, not from the day I took over, but from the night I won. And I’ll call two people… Putin… and Zelensky. And I’ll say we’re going to meet. I guarantee I could work that out. I’ll tell one guy this, and I’ll tell one guy that… We would have a deal made in 24 hours,” Trump said.
Trump said that “continuing to pour money in” to Ukraine is delaying a peaceful settlement and “getting a lot of people killed.”
“If you watch and understand the moves being made by Biden on Ukraine, he is systematically, but perhaps unknowingly, pushing us into what could soon be World War III. How crazy is that?” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Well said. And Trump could do what he says. My view is that Putin only needs an agreement to ship goods via Ukraine, and that agreement does not need to cede territory. It would be analogous to an agreement with Mexico to have a space launch center in the Yucatan. It could be arranged and he is right, the war is a waste of human lives.
Not even close.
The ONLY person in the world who can stop this is Putin. Zelensky cannot. The killing would continue with a surrender. Biden obviously cannot. And by the time Trump gets there….the sunflowers will be six feet high.
It is easy to stand on the sidelines and try to referee the game.
Ukraine didn’t have a vote in 2020.
This is a conservative site. Not a Trump site.
Trump is not that conservative: His economics are debt based. His moral compass is askew. His immigration policy was half right. His foreign policy was OK.
That said, not liking Trump is no reason to leave. And not liking Trump does not equate to liking Biden.
So…now call me a name and rant like a drunk.
You certainly have all of Moscow’s lies down pat. In reality land Donbas Russian speakers like my wife’s family spoke Russian all the time, are patriotic Ukrainians, and greatly resent the Russian and Mohammedan thug occupiers.
Moscow started the fake separatist movement through agents, bribes, threats, disappearances, other mafia tactics, and finally troops.
“would have pushed to enforce the Minsk Accords that would have brought peace to Ukraine”
LOL, the Minsk accords that Russia instantly violated after signing them? How exactly was Trump going to convince Russia to honor them?
“The Left thinks that WW III ill be just “Conventional” or limited Nuke War—only battlefield weapons used.”
Yeah, things like germ warfare, the destruction of food production facilities, toxic train derailments, factory explosions and infrastructure sabotage would never take place. Only other people’s sons out their in some far away country shooting one another.
“violated the agreed boundaries”
There were no “agreed boundaries”. The agreement was null and void when Russia refused to uphold its end of the bargain and disarm the revolutionaries that it had armed and funded in Ukraine.
*Yawn*
More milquetoast bloviating from SandersWorld.
PS, as far as I’m concerned, Trump is the rightful President, so I advocate for the immediate removal of The Thief and his slut buddy and the restoration of the Presidency to Trump.
So waiting isn’t a problem for me. I think he should be President today. And don’t tell me “that’s not realistic” because you would say that about Impeachment as well, and you can note that no such scruples stopped the Mafia Princess and her Meyer Lansky acolytes from doing it to Trump twice.
Imagine the Possible, and Do It.
It’s not just Russia. If Zelenskyy agreed to any sort of a deal that leaves Russia with territorial gains, the Ukies will boot Zelenskyy. That might eventually lead to more of an Afghan style insurgency...
Not everything is top down, that is for sure.
greatly resent
Isn't that a bit of an understatement?
No need to elaborate TOO much. ;-)
Ha! You’re right. It is an understatement and a half!
As far as threatening the rest of us, Molon Labe.
Wow...You two are DeSantis supporters aren't you?
Well, one chunk of it is to prevent a situation where everybody is continuously spending 20% of their GDP on defense and / or (since WW2) anyone capable is nuking up.
From a longer perspective, alliances have been a feature of human behavior for as long as we have been capable of forming them.
He shouldn'a left.
Ukraine would have been a lot better off if they had not gotten in bed with the USA. That move has cost them many thousands of lives and us many billions of dollars.
“Trump is willing to force Ukraine to give up land like Nevile Chamberlain.”
How do you know what Trump is willing to do? All he said was that if he were president, the fighting would end in short order.
Also, countries ally to work to complementary strengths, block long term threats, etc.
For example, if Ukraine is successfully defended, development of its very large mineral/ energy resources can recommence, to the vast benefit of “The West”, Ukraine, and much of the world, but NOT so much Russia. And of course there’s the competing agriculture resource too.
