I Truly Miss Our Tobacco Smoking Culture

I Truly Miss Our Tobacco Smoking Culture .

The paraphernalia. The rituals. The camaraderie. The cigarettes and cigars and pipes.

The rituals. The coffee and cigarettes. The pipe and brandy. The smoky jazz clubs. .

It was an age. In retrospect it added texture to our lives.

I’m part of a golf-4some that plays once a week. We all smoke a cigar during the round of golf (4 cigars a month). It is a ritual...and it adds to the camaraderie of the group and the event.

Where I worked the smokers used the smoke breaks for problem solving away from the Karens and the “can’t be done-it is impossible” crowd—there seemed to be a correlation between the creative types and the smokers—never seen a study on that one.

My experience is that many smokers were more likely to be independent thinkers who were not intimidated by “groupthink”.

I don’t miss it. Our son is a professional musician. He doesn’t smoke. I was very happy when smoking was made illegal inside. We first noticed it in Ireland where our son was performing. Everyone smokes in Ireland. But when we were there they had to smoke outside. What a relief.

I smoked for thirty years before my vape got me to quit.

Which vape unit do you use? I had a Smok Novo that was pretty good but they discontinued when they came up with the Novo 2 which is not as good. Thinking about getting a Smok Nord 2

Traded lung disease for heart disease, diabetes, etc

At least when we all smoked, everyone was thin and attractive.

Now nobody smokes and the country is filled with corpulent hambeasts riding around on mobility scooters.

I wonder if the rise in obesity has something to do with it. I actually lost weight when I quit, but I was working out like a maniac for the endorphins. Most seem to gain weight in my experience. Also, I think smoking generally helps keep weight off by suppressing appetite and maybe speeding up the metabolism. I wonder what the trade-off between obesity and smoking for the general cost to society is.

I rather smell a whiff of smoke sitting on an airplane next to a 180 pound man rather than sweat from a 240 pound man who is sitting in my seat too!

Quit being melodramatic. You think the secondhand smoke campaign was exaggerated or did you die of cancer too?

I didn’t kill your mom so quit pretending I did.

Tell that to my mom, I will always remember the sound of her coughing her lungs out as she enjoyed the first cigarettes of the day. I remember the last day of her life, she was on her deathbed breathing pure oxygen, and yet she still had to have those last cigarettes

It's called free will.

You mother chose to smoke, and you chose to encourage her, if you really believed your sanctimonious stance of today, you'd have cut off all contact with her until she quit.

You holier than thou hypocrites make me sick.

“The same people who demonize tobacco use are now the cheerleaders for marijuana.”

Ain’t that the truth.

I've been using the GeekVape Aegis 100 watt with the MikeVapes HellVape ReBirth RTA. I roll my own coils and mix my own flavored juice.

Here's a link for the hardware, and you can get the 24 gauge Kanthol coil wire and Japanese organic cotton from Amazon.

As for mixing the fluids, there's loads of information in this forum.

Evidently a number.

We now have a food obsessed culture. Not as interesting.

I DON’T MISS IT AT ALL!
The stench going into a smoke filled cafe, hospital, doctor’s waiting room, store, even some churches! Clothes back from the cleaners smelling like smoke, and any place where people got together.
Then when you leave you stink like smoke and have to get your clothes cleaned.
Nope! Don’t miss it at all!

I don’t advise anyone to start smoking, but I always reminisce about a great America that once was when I see Rod Serling narrating on the Twilight Zone with cigarette smoke swirling about his face. So nostalgic.

And the greatest generation WWII soldiers enjoying a smoke break in between saving America.

The young people no longer smoke and will not start smoking.

Smoking, in this country, will all but disappear in the next ten years.
