What’s Really Behind Trump Lashing Out at Gov DeSantis and Gov “Young Kin” After Midterm Elections?
100%FedUp ^ | Nov 11, 2022 | Amber Crawford

Posted on 11/12/2022 7:56:35 AM PST by SoConPubbie

After most of the midterm elections concluded, Donald Trump turned to the social media platform Truth Social to criticize Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who many speculate will be competing with Trump for the GOP nomination in the 2024 presidential election. He also targeted Virginia Governor Glenn Younkin (R), who could throw his hat in the ring for the presidential elections as well.

On Thursday, Trump posted a lengthy message on Truth Social, nicknaming DeSantis “DeSanctimonious.” He diminished DeSantis’ handling of Covid and insisted that he is responsible for the Republican governor’s success. Trump said,

“Now that the midterms are over, and a success…

NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations, who didn’t have to close up his State, but did, unlike other Republican Governors, whose overall numbers for a Republican, were just average – middle of the pack – including COVID, and who has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run States up North would go no matter who the Governor was, just like I did!

Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017 – he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win. I didn’t know Adam so I said, “Let’s give it a shot, Ron.” When I Endorsed him it was as though, to use a bad term, a nuclear weapon went off. Years later, they were the exact words that Adam Putnam used in describing Ron’s Endorsement. He said, “I went from having it made, with no competition, to immediately getting absolutely clobbered after your Endorsement.” I then got Ron by the “Star” of the Democrat Party, Andrew Gillum (who was later revealed to be a “Crack Head”), by having two massive Rallies with tens fo thousands of people at each one.

I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart. I was all in for Ron, and he beat Gillum, but after the Race, when votes were being stolen by the corrupt Election process in Broward County, and Ron was going down ten thousand votes a day, along with now-Senator Rick Scott, I sent in the FBI and the U.S. Attorneys, and the ballot theft immediately ended, jus prior to them running out of the votes necessary to win. I stopped his Election from being stolen. And now, Ron DeSanctimonious is playing games! The Fake News asks him if he’s going to run if President Trump runs, and he says, “I’m only focused on the Governor’s race, I’m not looking into the future.” Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer…

This is just like 2015 and 2016, a Media Assault (Colusion!), when Fox News fought me to the end until I won, and then they couldn’t have been nicer or more supportive. The Wall Street Journal loved Low Energy Jeb Bush, and a succession of other people as they rapidly disappeared from sight, finally falling in line with me after I easily knocked them out, one by one. We’re in exactly the same position now. They will keep coming after us, MAGA, but ultimately, we will win. Put America First and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

On Friday morning, Trump posted about Youngkin, pointing out how much he helped the Virginia governor win the election, and how Youngkin “couldn’t have come close to winning” without his help.

“Young Kin (now that’s an interesting take. Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me. I Endorsed him, did a very big Trump Rally for him telephonically, got MAGA to Vote for him – or he couldn’t have come close to winning. But he knows that, and admits it. Besides, having a hard time with the Dems in Virginia – But he’ll get it done!”

If you have never personally run for election or served in public office -— your opinion is just gas in the wind. Incoming is 24/7 from BOTH “friend” and foe. If you think ANYONE with an (R) after their name is going to be treated any differently, you are delusional. McConnell only supports candidates that vow to vote for him if elected. He starves Trump candidates for his own personal power. The RNC and a whole host of (R) swamp creatures aren’t much better. Politics is WAR without the Geneva Conventions.

Sure it’s all “bad candidates” who were able to come within a point or two of defeating Democrats in bright blue strongholds with little or no help at all from the party, or from overconfident voters who thought it was in the bag and didn’t bother to waste their time standing in line and voting. And now the naysayers want to blame it on these candidates who worked their tails off for months and months to knock on doors and beg for money, too.

If you think for one single nanosecond that the powers that be are not going to lure DeSantis into running and then spend every waking moment trashing him and his family, lawfare them into bankruptcy if possible, and then cheat in every way to take his win away from him -— you are DELUSIONAL!!! They are already calling him DeSatan and airing TV shows that set him as accused of homosexual rape -— snippets of which are all over the internet now as if it were real instead some fictional story line from some depraved far left partisan. Sadly, the 50% of voters that get their news from social media probably believe it!!!

Everyone here who are now badmouthing Trump and the candidates deserve the hunger and cold the Democrats have promised us.

So put up or shut up. The next election is in 2024 -— file for office on Monday, pay the fees, hire the staff, jump through all the hoops, climb in your campaign van, and get to work now so you can do everything perfectly right and save the world in November 2023!!!

You know YOU can do it!!!

“But I wasn’t making that argument as an individual point. My point involved using the full context.”

That was the bazis for your argument. That D was beholden to them because of the endorsement.

But that endorsement was the only logical choise and D did’t need it to win.

Who did more than Trump for the republican candidates??? Please tell us...

McConnell's PACs spent over $200 million on Senate candidates.

Trump spent about $8 million.

“Remember Low Energy Jeb and Lying Ted? This is not new, it’s Trump’s m.o.”

A lot of people were turned off by that then but they were declared opponents.

DeSantis was running for governor. Trump was not.

Two weeks to flatten the vote. (Which means we’re going to be talking about these midterms for two years minimum)

He did the same in 2016. I was never a fan of the “Lying Ted” rants, but Trump still easily won the general election in TX.

*******************************

True, but I am talking about the primaries. Ted Cruz did win the Texas primary, just like Ron Desantis will win Florida.

The party leaders were completely unprepared for Trump in 2016. They will not make that mistake again.
They will pick the early primary states that will be the least favorable for Trump to win.

He has made too many enemies and not enough friends.

“And it certainly is Trump’s right to respond to some of the worst RINO’s pushing DeSantis while DeSantis stays quiet.”

But he threatened DeSantis. The most effectove and popular governor in the US. Wrong move.

Throw it there for the public to see and it mostly come to a head somewhere along the line...

Well, consider what you just said right there. Trump did exactly what you said - took it public - and what was the result? All the media outlets that were saying he shouldn't run took those statements and made them the centerpiece of even more articles saying that he shouldn't run. So it had the exact opposite effect of what he apparently wanted, which was completely predictable.

Trump obviously doesn't like the idea of the WSJ, etc., running articles critical of him and saying he shouldn't run. So what?? They have every right to do that, and media commentary on the merits of various potential candidates has been going on forever. Getting outraged and angry that someone has the temerity to criticize you publicly is just a really bad look, and it is hurting him politically. But he can't and won't stop it because that's just who he is. And it is going to cost him.

I don’t even think DeSantis is going to run.

Interesting. So does that mean you think Trump's attacks against him are misguided? I for one believe he has jumped the gun, which is his right, but it has repercussions.

As far as whether DeSantis will run or not, I think it depends on how things play out. I also think DeSantis has been playing it smartly cool, and that will continue for a good long while.

He still has lots of money from his campaign left over, and Boris Epstein who is one of Trump's attorneys said on the Bannon show the other day that the money collected by DeSantis for his campaign for Governor cannot legally be used to run for President.

So I don't expect DeSantis to do anything different than celebrate his victory, serve as the Governor of Florida, and wait to see if Trump further self destructs, or is indicted, has a health issue etc.

2024 is a long way off for him to decide to enter, so while he won't be entering in the Presidential race anytime soon, I don't think, he very well may later. Whether Trump continues to hound him for not announcing remains to be seen.

I have to believe it’s just Trump’s way of going Scorched Earth. He knows it’s over, because this was his last stand. The GOPe won.

Until the National GOP gets fixed, and that basically means some people have to literally die, *cough* China Mitch *cough* before that happens. Lest DeSantis would have one arm tied behind his back, as did Trump.

Forget 2024, it’s lost.

Probably so.

If Trump earns the GOP nomination, he will lose the general.

If Trump doesn't earn the GOP nomination, he will run a third party campaign ensuring the Democrats win. The GOP nominee will likely see their political future go down in flames as well.

And GOPe will still be in place. Probably get stuck with Liz Cheney, and I will vote for the Rat over her.

“Trump is acting like a schoolyard bully. An insecure brat. We can do better.”

Trump is acting exactly the same as he’s acted since entering politics.

The GOP needs to purge Trump. They’ll use DeSantis to do that if they can.
When DeSantis eventually moves to the middle or makes a deal with the GOPe, many Many Freepers will then turn on him.

I remember when FR had nothing but praise for GWB. He was playing 3-D chess. He made liberals cry. He lived rent-free in their heads. It’s hard to find anybody now that will admit to ever having supported him.

It seems that many Freepers need to hero-worship their political leaders.
Trump is exactly the same as he’s always been. What happened to, “Let Trump be Trump.”?

So Trump attacked his fellow Republicans during the primaries and won. So he is trying to get out ahead and “fix”/identify his possible opponents right off the bat. Isolate and ostracize them.
Problem is, it’s way to early, and it really turns people off that aren’t due-hard Trumpanistas.

Your post upthread was really good. I particularly liked this part:

So I don't expect DeSantis to do anything different than celebrate his victory, serve as the Governor of Florida, and wait to see if Trump further self destructs, or is indicted, has a health issue etc.

...Which is exactly why Trump doing what he did was so dumb. It was completely predictable that a lot of Republicans would be ticked off at him publicly mocking two very popular and successful GOP Governors. The Asian component of his comments about Youngkin was particularly stupid.

So the irony is that Trump's own pre-emptive attacks that he apparently thinks will discourage challengers actually have the opposite effect because they weaken his support and make a potential challenge more likely to be successful.

I imagine both DeSantis and Youngkin are just sitting back and hoping that he keeps doing it.

“the money collected by DeSantis for his campaign for Governor cannot legally be used to run for President.”

A lot of the money has not yet gone into his campaign funds a can easily used to support a presidential run.

It certainly is Trump’s right to respond to some of the worst RINO’s pushing DeSantis

If Trump has a problem with RINO's, who may be "pushing DeSantis" as you say, shouldn't he come out and say that's what his problem is? Where is it proven that DeSantis is even running for President, much less seeking RINO support?

The only thing I'm aware of is Richard Baris made a tweet that claimed McCarthy, McConnell, and Ryan were considering supporting either DeSantis, Youngkin, or Tim Scott in a hypothetical race against Trump for President. This tweet was given as an explanation/excuse for Trump attacking DeSantis during his run for Governor. Baris later admitted on Twitter that DeSantis never met with anyone, when pressed.

So if DeSantis never met with them, why does he deserve the attacks from Trump?

Shouldn't Trump be focusing his anger on these RINO's, instead, at least until DeSantis has even met with them?

What if he never does meet with them?
