The impact of the use of a nuclear device in Ukraine will depend on the details. Like any large-scale industrial army, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have obvious pressure points that would be vulnerable to nuclear attack. These include logistical centers, command and communications nodes, and concentrations of front-line forces. During the Cold War the Soviet Union expected to use tactical nuclear weapons against NATO (and expected that NATO would use them in return) and it is therefore likely that the Russian armed forces have workable theories as to how they might best use tactical nukes to inflict damage on Ukraine’s fielded forces.

Threads made me feel sick. To this day I’ve never finished it. A nuclear exchange would be an absolute hellish nightmare none of us can comprehend.
Not if Russia hits a NATO country. Article 5 notes an attack on one is an attack on all.
So you missed the ending?
What’s “insane” is surrendering to Russia’s nuclear blackmail. Doing that will cause nuclear proliferation around the world and green light other bad actors to do the same.
They have said nothing about attacking any NATO country.
Thanks for the link.
As gutted as are armed forces are, I think the other countries know they are doomed to attack the USA with nukes. Russia can’t even roll over The Ukraine and is sustaining huge losses in men and material.
Seriously? Not but a few days ago Zelenski was begging NATO to strike Russia first.
What would happen if Russia were allowed to nuke Ukraine without harsh consequences? Every country in the world that is capable of producing nukes would rush to have them. Gangsterism in international relations would become the norm. What would it be like to live in a world like this?
Do you really want this to happen? Do you really believe that the US would somehow avoid negative consequencees?
Russia knows it’ll escalate to World War III. Putin’s tactics will flow from that reality - it’s not gonna start with a Ukrainian city.
This ship sailed in Libya.
Is Europe completely full of incompetent poontangs?
A whole continent can’t deal with a country that’s dying demographically?
The US has lost enough men, and enough treasure.
Time for cowardly Europeans to find their mettle.
It's got plenty of willing Ukie cannon fodder as battlefield props, and Russian soldiers on the opposite side.
It will be very realistic for their clients.
All the more reason for them to introduce nukes onto the battlefield.
Russia has passed the point of no return. Unless Putin is removed and replaced with a pro-Biden lickspittle who will bankrupt the Russian economy with reparations, they can't just say, "Sorry. My bad." and expect to go back to the pre-invasion status quo.
And there's a significant far-right nationalist element in Russia who thinks Putin hasn't gone far enough. They're embarrassed of Russian battlefield losses and believe it's time to take the gloves off and Grozny-fy everything. If Putin is replaced, there's a good chance it'll be by one of these guys.
That’s how wars escalate, you lose 10 men, you think that you can’t let them die in vain. Then you lose 100 men, and you can’t let them die in vain, then it’s 1000 men, and so on and so on....
No, it's everyone's problem. The induced radiation from that detonation will circle the earth several times and distribute nasty isotopes to everyone, everywhere - including on you and your family.
Our dear government has happily classified all of the studies of the results of the contamination caused by over 350 above ground nuclear detonations since Alamogordo - and its greatly increased cancers, birth defects - and all sorts of horrors yet to be discovered or acknowledged.
Zelinski does not have access to nuclear weapons.
As for Vlad, he has his panties in a wad because the Ukrainians have proven that Russian army is a paper bear.
Libya wasn’t nuked as far as I know...
Libya ended the nuke program before being destroyed.
