Ukraine has made some impressive progress on the battlefield, but let us hold the applause for a moment: It’s too soon to tell whether Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive heralds a Ukrainian victory in the war with Russia, but the remarkably rapid Ukrainian advance on the one hand and the equally remarkable rapid retreat by the Russians on the other do testify to Ukrainian military prowess and, perhaps more critical, Russian military incompetence.
It should be amply clear by now that, expert expectations to the contrary, Russia cannot win the war. In fact, the irony is that Russian troops have responded to Ukraine’s Blitzkrieg in the same manner that Ukrainians were expected to respond to Russia’s February 24th offensive: by throwing down their arms and heading for the hills.

Time will tell.
I think an update of Russian missile strikes are in order ... knocking out all their power plants, water plants, etc. Ukrainian forces will need to fall back to repair the infrastructure ... Russia is going scorched earth on them.
Next week’s headline:
Russia’s Advance Means Ukraine Cannot Win The War
The only winners, as per usual, are the globalist arms dealers (eg Soros)
The war will continue, as long as both sides see paths to victory.
Stalemate wars have gone on for years.
Consider WWI.
It seems the world’s puppet masters want this to be a long and costly war. Time to ask the question, “Who profits?” It will be neither Ukraine nor Russia.
Yep, even the air raid sirens have stopped working. No electric, no water. Ukraine’s “blitzkrieg” was no match for Russia’s scorched earth.
Russia wont stop. Once the box was open, it cant be closed.
“… knocking out all their power plants, water plants, etc…”

Already happening. The MAJOR Ukrainian bridges are next. In a word… ESCALATION!
“Who profits?” It will be neither Ukraine nor Russia.
*************************The US military industrial complex that’s who.
Ukraine was always going to win this if they wanted it bad enough.
Honestly, the hard truth is, wars fought under the rules established after WW2 can not be won by an occupying force. This was intentional, to prevent wars, by making them unwinnable and unprofitable.
“I don’t love all of the authors ideas, but it seems neither side can win now. So, what happens?”
I disagree. Russia was the aggressor, the invader. So, Ukraine wins by not losing.
I draw analogies to the Battle of the Bulge, the last great offensive mounted by the Third Reich’s Wehrmacht against the Allis in the fall and winter of 1944.
The “Battered Bastards of Bastogne”, the American forces caught in a pincer movement in December 1944, were held in siege from December 20 to December 27, when General George S. Patton and the Third Army came to their rescue, essentially breaking the back of the last German offensive.
The Russians have no General Patton.
“Honestly, the hard truth is, wars fought under the rules established after WW2 can not be won by an occupying force. This was intentional, to prevent wars, by making them unwinnable and unprofitable.”
There is some truth to that. But if one side surrenders, the other side wins.
Apparently power was only out for an hour in most places.
And keep in mind, this “scorched earth” strategy is centered on Kharkiv and areas the Russians claimed they were “liberating.” IOW, they’re terrorizing the population they claim was on their side all along.
How totally ridiculous. None of this is anywhere near over. Things are going to heat up. he lights are going out and it means something.
I am kind of wondering if and when Russia touches off an EMP over the Ukraine.
Would kinda be curious to see how well that would work.
thus my “occupying force” qualifier.
If the native population resists and continues to resist, they will win, it’s just a matter of time.
The only way to win a war is to kill so many of the enemy and their families that they beg you to stop or they are all dead.
Russia would have to be willing to take out entire cities to win this, and they wont do that. So, it’s just a matter of time until they lose. Same as us in Iraq or Afghanistan or wherever.
Once the enemy “knows” you are willing to eradicate them entirely, they will line up 100 miles deep to surrender. But no country is willing to fight war like that anymore, and the result is always the same.
If Russia will not profit, they can end the war immediately simply by withdrawing from Ukrainian territory.
