If you aren't aware, the Tolkien fandom isn't happy with Amazon's new work of "art," the $1-billion-a-season "Rings of Power."
There are a lot of reasons why the show is being criticized so heavily – most of them having to do with post-modern, feminist, Marxist ideology that the showrunners are trying to impose on a franchise that is utterly opposed to such things – but I'll let you sift through those in-depth reviews for yourself.
As for right now, let's just glory in the fact that somehow, despite the beloved franchise having oodles of source material to work with, the creators of this hot garbage managed to get a worse initial rating than the current approval ratings of the most unliked President of the United States.
I love and hate to see it (cuz I want woke desecrations of art to fail but I really wanted this to be good).
You can ignore the critic rating. These days, it only serves as a benchmark of whether or not something is woke trash or just trash trash.

“Are there black lesbian elves?!”
And they all look like Lightfoot.
Is that a young Al Sharpton ?
Lawd! Dem Rangz!
They took woke liberties with Tolkien’s work and his fans don’t like it one bit.

I've noticed that the quality of acting has gone down in the past couple of years. I know it's due to the woke virus. But there has to be more to it. I would like somebody in the business to explain it to us. To. Cruise just made a great movie recently that is entertaining so the formula is still there if you try to follow it.
LOL, I don’t think so. I’m guessing you’re referring to Michael K Williams?...
Young Al was probably already race hustling then.
apparently you are not picky enough if you think changing characters archetypes are no big deal.
👍
That’s right. And when he was young, he was fat. He didn’t have the malnourished rat look.
What archetype are you referring to?
I initially complained about a black elf and a black dwarf elsewhere — simply because Tolkien never mentioned darker colors for those races — and it still bothers me a bit, but I can tolerate it if it’s not presented as a woke part of the story.
There are Black elves, the main elf, Alvindor or something, is Black. He has an interracial and inter-species romance with a white Hobbit.
Thanks!
I didn’t watch it, and I am happy if Amazon tanks because of it.
Waymo bettah.
Roll Tide.

“Knight, know this, if thou canst pull this sword from this stone, thou shalt be the next Under-Secretary of the United Nations tasked with accelerating the response to transphobic hate crimes.”
“Erm, listen, I have some errands to run in town, might be back later to give that a try.”
Of the five “main” Elves, Arondir is the only black Elf (so far, and not an original Tolkien character), with an interest in a “brown” woman (not a Hobbit, and also not a Tolkien character). He is warned by an Elf companion that relationships between Elves and Men often don’t end well, as Tolkien told in at least two earlier stories.
Wolkien’s LOTR
Fila jumpsuits and multiple gold chains. Pimpin’ Sharpton...
I have read that at least for UK film makers they can’t get funding unless there are roles for “minorities” even if they have to shoehorn them in, e.g. a black Anne Bolyen in the recent 99th remake of the story of Henry the 8th _ He done her wrong!
Amazon only had access to the appendices.
That said, they butchered Tolkien!
They fired their Tolkien expert and had a femnazi put in charge of contents.
They condense events that took thousands of years into days.
Guyladriel is the first Karen Sue in film!
Nothing about this show is authentic.
It’s woke garbage.
