If you aren't aware, the Tolkien fandom isn't happy with Amazon's new work of "art," the $1-billion-a-season "Rings of Power."
There are a lot of reasons why the show is being criticized so heavily – most of them having to do with post-modern, feminist, Marxist ideology that the showrunners are trying to impose on a franchise that is utterly opposed to such things – but I'll let you sift through those in-depth reviews for yourself.
As for right now, let's just glory in the fact that somehow, despite the beloved franchise having oodles of source material to work with, the creators of this hot garbage managed to get a worse initial rating than the current approval ratings of the most unliked President of the United States.
I love and hate to see it (cuz I want woke desecrations of art to fail but I really wanted this to be good).
You can ignore the critic rating. These days, it only serves as a benchmark of whether or not something is woke trash or just trash trash.

I watched Episode One
On one hand it was very average. Lazy even.
On the other hand, it is not actual Tolkien but more of a reboot. And not a very good one.

My mom, who has never picked up a fantasy book in her life, decided to watch because it was advertised so much.
Let's just say, she did not care for it and leave it at that.
An ad for this crap comes up on my Amazon app.
I just want to Shop and don’t want to be bothered by ads.

I don’t see any customer reviews for it on Amazon. When I bring it up on Amazon it says “be the first to review this item”.
I saw it. It was fine. Nothing woke in my opinion.

Just today, I received two packages from Amazon (I use them a lot) and both were in heavily-illustrated (and expensive) "Lawd Dem Rangz" packaging.

Not sure what your friend watched, but it was neither of those. Not true to Tolkien canon, definitely.
I sign on to the Amazon app to research a purchase...and it immediately goes to a few second commercial for that garbage. Never seen a commercial like that before.

I agree — it was fine. Folks see what they want to see, or hear what they want to hear. You can definitely argue it breaks Tolkien canon, but that’s it (so far).

These are outside descriptives (opinions) of the character and/or story. No feminist ideals appear in the story, and if you can give me an example I’ll gladly consider it.
Amazon is saying negative reviews are the result of a conspiracy and Amazon isn’t posting any customer reviews. I’m guessing Amazon will delete most of the negative reviews.
