Jackie Kulback was just one of the Pennsylvania GOP leaders who was worried in May when Doug Mastriano clinched the Republican primary for governor.
Mastriano was a MAGA state senator who worked to overturn the 2020 presidential election and Kulback thought he would struggle to win the critical battleground state in the fall. But she’s feeling differently these days.
“The higher the gas prices go, the more electable Mastriano is,” said the chair of the Cambria County Republican Party. “Honestly, I feel this is Mastriano’s campaign to lose.”
In the immediate aftermath of Pennsylvania’s messy gubernatorial primary — which included an ill-fated, last-minute attempt by the GOP establishment to stop Mastriano — many Democrats and Republicans in Pennsylvania thought the race was all but over. Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the Democratic nominee, is a first-class fundraiser with a record of winning tough statewide races. He emerged unscathed from the Democratic primary after clearing the field.
Mastriano, on the other hand, has a shoestring campaign, regularly antagonizes members of his own party, and is known for his far-right views on hot-button issues. He chartered buses to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, where he appears to have been part of a crowd that crossed barricades. He believes in no exceptions for an abortion ban. He has said that the state legislature has the power to appoint presidential electors, and as governor, he would have the power to “decertify” election machines. When Mastriano pulled out a win in the primary, many national Republicans kept their distance and, privately, assumed Shapiro would waltz to the governor’s mansion.
But as the political environment has worsened for Democrats across the country, the gubernatorial race in Pennsylvania has begun to look more competitive than either party expected.

Someone better watch Shapiro. He’s got his own personal army of ballot machines.
WTI futures are above $100/bbl after Biden’s failed trip to Saudi. He’ll beg Venezuela next, but that won’t help much. Mexico is reducing their exports. I have no idea how informed those city slickers are around Philadelphia. But I hope the will learn soon the Pennsylvania is the next Saudi Arabia.
If democrats do not want america to be great, then they must want it to suck
Anyone who has paid attention to the polls and the general movement of the electorate would know that was likely to happen. The dums are seriously stuck in their own world, where global warming, transgender rights and January 6th are top issues to the voters.
If democrats do not want america to be great, then they must want it to suck
—
They don’t want it to exist at all. They envision some utopian one-world government, run by them of course.
Um, most of the Dems and GOPe do want it to suck for most of us. They want two classes: the “elites” and the poor servant class. They hate the middle and lower upper classes. If fact they hate the poor too, but poor and ignorant (not necessarily the same thing) are easier to control.
And?
But as the political environment has worsened for Democrats across the country, the gubernatorial race in Pennsylvania has begun to look more competitive than either party expected.
PA voted for Trump. Why on earth would anybody be surprised if Mastriano wins?
The RGA (Republicans Governors Association) hasn’t decided to back and fund Mastriano - tells you all you need to know, I’ll donate to him and I don’t live in PA.
The mud machine is running 24/7 on Mastriano.
I even suspect the pickup truck I saw today cruising the shopping areas with a Trump Won flag on one side and the Confederate flag on the other is a Democrat troll operation.
Holly Otterbein is a scumbag hack reporter. Notice how she refers to Mastriano’s “far-right” views while ignoring Shapiro’s far left views. Shapiro STOLE his election in 2020, and he knows that we know. He is not gonna get away with it a second time.
Mastriano is going to be the next governor of Pennsylvania and will appoint the next Republican senator a year from now when Frankenstein Fetterman kicks the bucket. The Islamist anchor baby, Mohammed Oz will be the only GOP candidate to go down in flames in the November general election. The GOP will sweep ALL the rest of the statewide races. Then the payback will begin.
The blatant cheating was worse Pa than anywhere else. It was even worse than Georgia and that is saying something. The same corrupt bastards run the process so we better not get our hopes up.
The funny thing is, you can’t be sure.
““Most people are in a little bubble, where they talk to one other and say, ‘Boy, there’s no way Doug Mastriano can beat Josh Shapiro.’ Well, you know what? Those people don’t get off the turnpike,” he said”
Ok, boys and girls here, what does he mean by “don’t get off the turnpike” in this context (and no cheating)!
In the immediate aftermath of Pennsylvania’s messy gubernatorial primary — which included an ill-fated, last-minute attempt by the GOP establishment to stop Mastriano...
Another charge of the RINOs.
Democrats and Rino’s always tell us that good candidates can’t win and make sure to choose only between their worthless ones.
“The RGA (Republicans Governors Association) hasn’t decided to back and fund Mastriano - tells you all you need to know, I’ll donate to him and I don’t live in PA.”
If MAGA can keep winning for another 2 or so elections, the RGA and other similar orgs will be controlled by MAGA and the outsiders demanding to get in will be the get-along to go-along bunch trying to get back in.
Win, Doug, win!!!!
Wrong. If our side tried to cheat corrupt press toadies and the thugs running DOJ would step up and prosecute. Our side doesn’t get even a whiff of a pass.
“Mastriano was a MAGA state senator who worked to overturn the 2020 presidential election and...”
I watched post election hearings on TV and remember Mastriano standing up for his constituents. He wasn’t trying to overturn jack shit. He, and many others, saw anomalies and signs of fraud. He, and many others, wanted investigations and justice. Who Doug supported in the election doesn’t invalidate his actions. If it did, the partisan J6 committee is therefore required to step down.
I’m in Texas and don’t have a dog in this, but Doug left a good impression on me.
