I need some pesticide, these DC fundraisers are FLOODING my text messages and emails to the point of nausea! Yesterday I got 15+ from 22-now.com and others! Is there any way that my fellow FReepers have found to handle this?
My feeling is that the political INDUSTRY will cheerfully beggar all of us to keep their fund-raising jobs at the full! FRUSTRATED!
I block them. That’s about the best you can do short of calling in an airstrike.
Federal law says texting STOP back to them obligates them to leave you alone. Most of them abide by the law. I’ve reported a few of them to the FTC, and let them know that.
Never heard of that group. Probably a scam. I don’t give to pretty much anyone.

Yes. I have retroactively never, and would never ever, donate to a DC fundraising group. Never.
And as a result I have never gotten any texts or emails begging for more money.
If they are text messages, after the first one respond with STOP. It has worked for me.
This works for me for the calls and texts. It’s free for landlines and VOIP phones but a small charge for cellphones.
And a spam filter for e-mail. There are some good secure e-mail services that take and use spam reports.
Nothing I’ve done so far has stopped them. I just keep deleting them.
It would NOT be surprising. Omitted the key wors, sorry.
Maybe check into that new app that Erik Prince (Blackwater) just put out. It’s called “Unplugged”, and is supposed to be super secure — at least for calls. (Not sure about texts.) The app is out now to download for cell phones, and they’ll be releasing devices in the fall. He’s been interviewed often by Bannon on War Room.
I dunno ... just a thought.
Reply STOP and they should stop.
You phone number must have reached them in some way (maybe sending a few bucks to them, or bought something like survival rations). Once there, it spreads like a virus. Best option, although quite painful, is to get a new phone number and protect it better (give out fake numbers except where it counts). I do that in doctors’ offices with my SS number, as they only use it for deadbeats, and since I pay my bills, its never given me a problem (obviously I keep the fake number close enough to my number to be able to claim ‘a mistake’ if ever challenged)
Other than a new number and some of the ideas above, I too wouldn’t come up with much.
Because of the number of scams and phishing texts you can’t ever risk giving someone who texts you your Creditcard information. I made the mistake of giving a couple of candidates (all of whom lost, by-the-way) a donation through their websites. My information got shared around like a two-dollar hooker at a frat party. I’m still getting texts. (The emails go automatically to the spam file, but that turns out to be an effort by the internet providers to keep money out of the “enemy’s” hands.)
The answer is the same for when too many birds show up on your property and (defecate) on your stuff. Stop feeding them.
Text back STOP and your phone company also blocks them for you.
Reply with STOP, and they will stop. Blocking numbers doesn’t work, as the numbers are randomly generated. Replying STOP should end messages from a particular outfit, not just the number. It seems to work for me. I’m down to just a few messages per week now.
22-now got me too. I’ve had the same number for 5 years and have NEVER gotten a spam text until the past few months.
You figure the candidates these idiots at 22-now claim to represent would make them cease and desist because they sure are not helping the cause.
I do believe they are scammers though.
Think back.
Who with the GOP/RNC did you interact with using your cell phone?
OR
Who with the GOP/RNC did you give your cell phone number to?
I only use my cell for making the occasional phone call or text to an individual, most likely someone I know. No social apps and I don’t give out my number to companies. All I get is the occasional and very random spam. text. Nothing focused on my interests or habits.
Location Services aka GPS tracking is always off. I’ve removed as many apps as possible, disabled as many others as I could and went through the rest and denied as many permissions as possible.
The best you can do is shut the sound off. They almost always start at 8:10 in the morning. Every single morning. Even on an off, no election year.
If you want to sleep in you have to put your phone in another room or turn the sound off.
They are incessant.
