Talk about Ukraine joining NATO has been going on for a decade. By custom or treaty obligation, NATO does not admit members with ongoing border disputes, such as the pre-existing Donbas & Crimea disputes caused by Putin, so Ukraine's chances of admission were essentially nil before this conflict.

Should Ukraine prevail, they are much higher now.
