To whom do liberals go when they want to tell their career-threatening stories to a sympathetic listener? Well, to be fair, they have several choices, but George Stephanopoulos is perhaps the favorite. So Alec Baldwin sought out Stephanopoulos to explain how he came to shoot and kill Halyna Hutchins. Today ABC News released a preview clip of that interview:
In his first interview since the deadly Oct. 21 shooting, a tearful Baldwin told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos he has “no idea” how the live bullet ended up in the firearm.
“The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” Baldwin said in a preview clip of the interview released on Wednesday.
“I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never,” he said.
I believe that Baldwin was shocked to find out that there was a live bullet in the gun. This is why the first rule of firearm safety is to treat every gun as a loaded gun. He says that he would never point a gun at a person and pull the trigger. I should hope not! But the second rule of firearm safety is never to point a gun at another person you do not intend to shoot, period.

Is that going to be the Oxford murderer’s defense: I did not pull the trigger? You were holding the weapon, Baldwin, someone pulled the trigger. One of your other personalities, maybe?

Not only did it ‘fire itself’, it sent the bullet where it wasn’t aimed, according to this liar.
That particular gun can be fired without pulling the trigger. If you “fan” the hammer it will fire. The first question is was the gun was cocked since it’s single action. If it wasn’t cocked the hammer was fanned, if it was cocked either the hammer was fanned or the trigger was pulled. This will all come out during expert testimony in court.
His finger was obviously ON the trigger, which is the same as having pulled it.
So. I’m guessing his lawyer said, “Get to the damn film in the camera before you do ANYTHING else.”
Baldwin at this point realizes he’s deep in that brown stuff.
But he did both things.
It sounds like someone is working on an insanity defense.

Having dealt with traumatic events and people recovering from them, I am not surprised he does not remember pulling the trigger. I remember a case where a guy did an action that seriously injured a coworker. It wasn’t reckless, the machine failed and in that failure a part struck a coworker in a supposed “safe” area.
The first guy was convinced he did not start the machine. We had him on video starting it up (we did not blame him, because he had no reason to expect it to explosively fail). He kept saying “Why would I hurt my friend?”
We had video, but his brain blocked out what happened.
Baldwin may be lying knowingly, but he may be blocking out the event subconsciously

So he’s probably telling the truth here.

It depends on what the definition of is… is…
You can’t fan the hammer without having a finger depressing the trigger.
Try it sometime on a single action pistol. Hammer goes back, locks on sear and can’t go forward until trigger is depressed or pulled by the finger.
Fanning the hammer requires finger on the trigger.
