My friend has been going through a rather prolonged bout with the virus. 13 days in the hospital, still recuperating at home now for the last 5 days. In our circle of friends and acquaints there are many opinions. I wrote this open rant to that circle in response to one kind of opinion that's raised it's perverse, ugly head.
I wasn’t involved with his treatment. He has a daughter who cares for him.
Two neighbors of mine came down with covid last winter. They were in their early 80’s. One obese, the other with late-stage terminal cancer. Unvaxxed. They survived covid. Cancer took one, about four months after covid. The other still can’t smell much and being widowed after 60 happy years is not something you get over, either...but covid, yeah, you can beat that, even in your 80’s.
What killed fully vaccinated Colin Powell, age 84?
Sorry to hear about your friend. May he recover completely.
As for the VAX stuff, I generally don’t weigh in on it as the debate has become downright silly. The battle lines have been drawn and people are acting stupidly to support their positions. People who are clearly at high risk are failing to get the vax. Conversely, people who are at very low risk, such as younger kids, are being pressured to take a vax that will provide little if any benefit to them. Further, the Karen Caucus continued to insist on on dubious measures such as lock downs and masking.
I believe every adult who isn’t allergic should choose to get vaccinated. This is some nasty stuff. It can have long, negative effects even if it doesn’t kill you. Note the operative words: should choose. Not must choose.
Drive too fast. Have a wreck. Stay away?
No exercise. Heart attack. Stay away?
Armed robbery. Shot by police. He gets treatment.
Your statement is arrogant.
That poster has a made a career here comparing my southern ancestors to nazis
I’m not surprised it would say that sort of crap about vaccines and Covid
Not surprised al all...they always show their hand
Those posters are all leftist you scratch the surface
Praise God your friend is recovering!
All the best for his full and comets restoration of his health.
Just stop it already. By that logic, anyone who drinks, smokes, eats too much crap food, doesn’t exercise, etc., is a “burden on society.”
And you act as though there is ANY data or evidence that PROVES that the “vaccines” make any difference (there isn’t), that the risks of the “vaccines” are not significant (they are), and you assume that your irrational fear somehow makes it right to force people to be injected.
You would fit in well in China. Why don’t you start packing, socialist?
That doesn't mean such care isn't a burden on the rest of society, does it?
When are you extremists ever going to learn/admit that?
Check out those 10 Commandments sometime.
“I find it warped and perverted that those who are most strident, most adamant about people taking the vax seem to enjoy it the most with glee when people who do not get vaxxed are fired, kicked out of school, banished from the public square, and they seem especially happy when that person falls ill to the virus.”
It’s called schadenfreude.
We enjoy it too when a calamity hits the other side as a result of them doings things we object to or find inadvisable, so let’s not be so holier than thou.
OTOH, some of your vaxxed friends may still acquire COVID, and God help them if they do.
You really should stop...really.
I had another close friend - a 70+-year-old unvaxed woman with multiple co-morbidities - who was diagnosed with COVID and pneumonia. She rode it out at home and had a rough time, and I spent several late nights talking with her when should couldn't sleep. She has recovered fully and now has a new lease on life.
When her illness was at its worst and she was struggling to breathe, I asked her if she regretted not getting vaxed. He answer was a most definite "No!".
“There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it.”
Aldous Huxley
It would help.
That’s not the basis of Christianity
It might be for Judaism...
Christ’s sacrifice for us is without question the basis of Christianity
The tenet you’re touting is ....sort of love they neighbor as thyself
Which works Christians always like to use as a stand alone
But it’s a follow up in Christ’s answer.....paraphrased.....love god with all thy might ....and love thy neighbor as thyself
Matthew said that somewhere...
I’m no preacher but I know the basics well enough....southern Baptist upbringing
Which I was just discussing the other day ....spared a man once....I was asked why I didn’t kill a certain transgressor forty years ago ...when I could have with no fear of repercussion...he’d stolen a fortune from me
I knew then i could kill but not murder....which ironically streamlines into your proffer
Executing him would have been stone cold murder....i did not want to stand before God to answer that after my death
Love they neighbor
Wardaddys parable for the day...lol
The hidden truth....I spared him for me...for my soul
You'll get no argument from me on that score...none whatsoever.
However, none of those vices are closing down hospital surgeries so unvaccinated Covid patients can be attended to.
Either choose to follow the advice of doctors or not, but don't change your mind about it when you catch the virus.
There's nothing extreme about being logical and/or compassionate. Check out post #45. It shows the ignorance and illogical status of your brainwashed position.
