Well maybe if the acceptance criteria was based on MERIT, instead of some b.s. “quota” system, these things would happen.
And if certain groups of people arent getting in College, maybe drill down and find out why?
Is it the schools?, is it the kids?, is it the communities? is it the teachers/administrators?
Find out the problems then correct them.
But I guess its easier to accept a “C” student that identifies as a BIPOC lesbian midget, than a white guy that has an “A” average that identifies as a straight white male.

I don’t know what to make of this. As someone else here noted, it’s no different than Elizabeth Warren claiming to be an indian (as if ‘Elizabeth Warren’ is an indian name, LOL), in that it can bite you years or decades later. In her case, she’s a Leftist, so she doesn’t have to worry, but normal people would have that hanging over them for the rest of their careers.

I guess it is... Many students buy their essays now, written by other people. They cheat their way through college. Not hard to believe they lie on their applications, too.

My kid could’ve checked off a minority box honestly. Instead, he proudly left that whole section blank on every test and application so that no one could accuse him of an advantage. His test scores and GPA were high, so if he’d identified as “minority,” he would’ve raised the average score.

Most of these lying students probably have lower scores. Pathetic.

So glad I read this story. I appreciate my kids even more now for their honesty. They leave those boxes blank, write their own essays, and never cheat.

I once knew a woman back in the late-80’s that was attempting to get a small scholarship at Temple University to attend a graduate program there. She did all the paperwork and was invited to an interview of the ‘finalists’. It was only then that she was told that the scholarship was only for ‘minority’ students. She appealed claiming status as an ‘Asian/Pacific Islander’ and presented her birth certificate which showed that she had been born in Honolulu. The committee didn’t inquire any further and she got the scholarship. Had they bothered to check the committee would have found that her father was a white Pennsylvanian serving at Kaneohe Marine Base and her mother was a Irish-American.

I had friends at church, surname McGraw. Red-headed Scots by ancestral origin. Their children were born when they were working in South Africa. As children of American citizens, they were American citizens, but could rightfully label themselves "African American" owing to the location of their birth. At college, they attempted to join an African American group on campus. They were rejected by the American born black people that have never set foot in Africa.
