Slaves were usually adult captives of enemy tribes. But not all tribes engaged in that practice - most just slaughtered their enemies so they wouldn't compete for resources.

maybe Kamala should learn some history - like colonists giving indians over 300 years to stop with the scalping, murdering, pillaging, kidnapping of themselves and of colonists and engaging with the French, Spanish and English to wreak havoc on Americans.
Starting with the enslavement of settlers at Wessagusset, the Jamestown massacre where 1/3 of the settlers were slaughtered along with all their livestock, leading to the death by starvation of some 500 more and barely 100 survivors left by Spring. The next 200 years saw the Yamasee slaughter of settlers around Charleston, Draper’s Meadow in Virginia, the Penn and Cove Creek and the Mill Creek massacres, the Enoch Brown School massacre, Wyoming Valley and Westerfeld massacres, 9 Mile Creek, Pigeon Roost, River Raisin, Fort Mims, and the Scot Massacres, among others.
In addition, indian on indian violence was so rampant that our ‘frontier’ forts were used more for indians escaping other indians than in quartering troops.
The myth of peaceful indians in tune with nature is exactly that - a myth disproved over 400 years of up-close experience.
